Default What kind of Jet Boat is this?

I have had this Jet Boat for about 3 yrs and it says Homemade on the title. I always thought it looked just like a Taylor SJ but recently I have been told it is not and I agree after doing some comparisons. Does anyone recognize the make and model of this boat? It came with a BBC and it has a Berkely 12JC pump someone has converted to a split bowl (is a 12 JC a good pump?).

Also looks like a Tahiti 18' Tiger from the mid-70's, right down to the gel scheme, except for the full length stringers. My 74 Tahiti just had short stringers and a flat floor.
Looks like the Hull ID number is still there on the right side of the transom. What are the first 3 letters?

Tahitti/Kona, there were many splashes of that hull. They are a very good family jet boat.

I see the HIN impression on the transom in that first pic. What are the first 3 letters? You can enter them here to lookup the manufacturer.

EDIT: Just realized OldSquirt beat me to it.

Really weird... there ar no letters except for an A at the end of a 9 digit number. I can make out where a Decal was on the top portion of the side of the boat and it is a KONA according to the ghost letters.

Good call Superjet and Squirtin Thunder!

Looks to me like the tape was never pulled from the part, that's usually why that area where the hin number is black. It should still, even after 30+ years, pull right out leaving that area the same color as the boat.

Well, it might be good and stuck now, but it can be removed.

    Default It's a Kona

Full stringers, Its a Kona. The Tahiti tiger's had shorty stringers for engine mounts and a full floor. From all I have researched ,The Kona was a direct splash of a Tahiti Tiger.
Your boat is exactly the same as Mine was.

I'm not here for a long time, I'm just here for a good time!
If your not on the edge.......your taking up too much room......Drive it like you stole it!
