    Default Preloader?????

my buddy's about to buy a 850HP blown BBC for his TX-19. it has a Dominater pump with a A impeller and droop.he was told it will need a preloader also. I always thought a P/L was just to keep the pump fed for a better hole shot, and also will lose 3-4mph top speed. is this true, what should he do? btw, this is a lake boat with a medium layup that will probably never see a christmas tree LOL!

Yes, with that much HP the pump might try to slip a little out of the hole. The preloader will enhance the hole shot.

If the bottom of the boat is right, and the pump and loader are set up right, the preloader will not slow him down.

put it on the quarter mile clocks you might have different results. But then again it really comes down to who built the pump.

Why don't you make an aluminum version for the lower HP/Slower speed Tug boats ? If it works in race boats it would also help in ski/lake boats !

Because some people will try to be cheap and run them in the HIGH HP boats and get into trouble.

OKay, so why do they make Aluminum impellers ? I really think that it could open a bigger window for you and let people get a feel for your product before stepping up in HP and a more resonable cost and gain the possible performance increases. Not everyone has a 850hp+ unit and I know that they would enjoy it as well as the racers. I know I would use it on my rescue boat as the low rpm use would help in my heavy towing. My rescue boat works in the 2800 - 3500rpm range most of the time, it has seen 4400 a few times but that is about it. Just think about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Pre-Loader is different then a Loader... Loader is added to the bottom of the boat/grate intake, Pre-loader/Inducer is in the pump before the Impeller. Thought the OP was talking about Pre-loader/Inducer???
