    Default Bowl detail work

Is it worth it to do bowl work. Say you have a 95 mph 18 foot bahner with a stock american turbine bowl no work done to it. What kind of gains can one expect? and what should a nice detail job run price wise?

    Thanks in advance

Why are you guys so surprised a stock bowl can run 95 MPH? Especially with so few details about the boat/engine combo.

lupo1904, 6200 RPM with an A impeller and only 86 MPH? Something doesn't sound right. My previous mill put down around 500ish HP, my pump was way up in the boat (i set it back 5.5" and the hand hole is only half out so that tells you how far this thing was in the boat), I had the standard MPD loader, droop, and PD, no shoe, no ride plate. My impeller was an old aluminum A with one of those HTP Ultimate Wear Rings and we all know how those don't work . My boat ran 86 MPH on GPS multiple times and 84-85 MPH consistently. Also my bowl is an old JC (no split bowl) that was converted to a split bowl. The inside of my bowl (still to this day) looks like i run rocks through it daily for fun. This last season i tried to clean it up a bit but really all i did was clean up the veins edge.

My engine now makes close to 700HP, my impeller is now a stainless AT A (when measured it was closer to an A+) and I can still only spin it to 5400/5500 RPM. Boat has seen the low 90's MPH wise and there's some left in it.

Well that was my point, a stock pump that's setup correctly can perform well. You don't have to have detailed this and detailed that. I am curious though what kind of gains one would see out of a detailed bowl. My guess would be alittle more bite and pull less rpm
