    Default Worn Ring gear

I took the Tahiti down to the dock yesterday to fire up the engine for the first time since I traded her for my cruiser. PO did not mention any problems with the starter or Flywheel. But I had to replace the lower mount starter due to the one that was mounted being locked up. Also have a dead spot on the ring gear. So is this a standard Flex plate used for a auto trans? Or something special used for the Berkley pump?

It's generally an auto trans flexplate. Were you able to confirm that teeth are missing? The bottom mount starter might need to be realigned or shimmed.

Yeah hand cranked it over and watch through the top mount hole. Either need new flex plate or switch to top mount and run on the other side of the ring gear.

Why not do both? There's still time before boating season really gets going.

Could not much to pull the engine forwards enough to get the flexplate off.
