    Default Prop shaft slightly magnetic

I have a unused 1" prop shaft and no idea what material it's made out of it's been sitting in the shop for 30 years .It is slightly magnetic. Is there any way to find out what it is made out of? The one that came out of the boat is non magnetic but some one took a pipe wrench to it to get the prop nut off.

    Thanks
    Dave

You could have the prop shaft PMI (Positive Material Identification) tested. It would ive you the chemical make up of the metals in it
