    Default Cav Plate Adjustment Info

Yesterday I received a phone call from my good friend and pal Chris Davidson. He mentioned he had gotten a couple complaints about me not responding to the Jim Wilkes Section on the forums. I guess my friends GREG SHOEMAKE & REXONE place some concerns that I might be dropping the ball. REXONE thought it makes Performance Boats on line look bad and suggested that maybe my section should be removed. CD ask what I wanted to do and I said I would stick with it and do a better job
Iím sorry I donít have the free time to be on line as much as some of me friends do but I will make things better.

First thing I will be doing is a video on CAV PLATE ADJUSTMENT. Next Tuesday I will be at my test lake and will record step by step the way I adjust a Cav Plate. This should be better than the written outline I was going to do.

Next, some of the questions ask are answered correctly by other forum members so I donít always reply. I guess I should acknowledge what I think is the right answer. This is so my friends know Iím looking at the forums.

I have been asked be many to do more HOW TOO articles and if Performance Boats is going to have a V-Drive section like Hot Boat had.

I will be doing (4) How to articles and or Videos for next years publications. This along with the other things I do for Performance Boats and run my business is all I will be able to do.

As for the V-Drive section I think a new format needs to be built so it no the same as the old Hot Boat. Even though the V-Drive question and answer section was popular I want to make the Performance Boats Section Better.

One last thing to keep in mind, I am not on Performance Boats PAY ROLL. I do what I do for my friend CD because of you friendship. GOD know itís not because of the $$$$$.

Dennis Thanks for sticking up for me with that password thing!!!!!1

JW I mentioned to Chris that there were several unanswered threads here and that you were taking some heat on it and that it did probably reflect negatively on the website and you too. I don't like to see that. And that perhaps he should call you to make you aware of that so you could answer the guys, nothing more than that. I didn't suggest that it should be removed UNLESS it was your desire to not participate. I know you are a busy guy as all of us are and it is easy to overlook things.

There was nothing in my conversation with CD aimed at beating you up, just to be clear, to the contrary... You are a highly respected industry professional. I recognize it and so does much of the membership here and I don't like seeing my friends getting beat up online. They just want your input man.

I told CD the same thing about the pb models section as well. Cherie is the only one that occasionally posts there... I'm sure the guys on the website would like to hear more from them as well...

I think the cav plate video idea is a great one too. It's an area of much mystery to many.

JW - I can't wait to see your video on cav plate adjustment! It couldn't come at a better time. I have three things left to do to get the Cougar in the water and adjusting the cav plates is one of them (getting them to stop leaking is one of the others).

I would love to see video on cav plate adjustment. I might just cruise down to the shop since I work up the street and pick your brain a little bit. I have a 1973 sanger circle flat. What is a good stating point? I know that there are a lot of factors that determine that overall setting point like motor placement, prop and HP. I'm just wondering where a middle ground would be to set them from scratch. Like 1/4" up or 1/4" down that sort of thing.

I could use some instructions on adjusting my cav plates as well. I've been rebuilding a Mako runner bottom flat and I'm at the point where I need to install and adjust my plates.
