After several hours-days-weeks, I was able to get the date for OKC changed so we don't have two races on the same weekend. We will do the OKC race May 31st-June 2nd. I talked to Ken D about moving forward. We will keep this date through our new contract over the next 5 years. Lucas will keep the second weekend in June for Wheatland. This was NOT and easy task, River Trust, City of OKC, Olympic Teams and of course the Wedding thing at the boat houses. But I thought it was best for all involved and most of all the teams that want to run both!
good move alan. gives you a lot better opportunity to draw participants. it's always better if racers aren't forced to make a choice. you're commended for making it happen.
wedding? years ago, just above lake ming in bakersfield, there was a hotel called rio bravo. they would host outdoor weddings on saturday afternoons. for some years, seemed like every race weekend somebody was getting married up there. they would inform the club of the time for the wedding. all engines would have to be shut down for half hour, 45 minutes. seems like we were always able to get the races in.
then 4-5 years ago, somebody bought the rio and bulldozed it with the idea of building condos up there. condo growth has been a bit slow...
