Ooops. My bad. The pony express is slow getting to Arkansas. Just realized that's for 2016.

not so sure about that scott. ken went over ALL the rule changes. he said nothing about going to 1000'. what the rules committee had voted to approve was standardization of the 1000' indexes. same as sitc always ran, except PE is 6.50. qe 6.0, te 7.0, me 8.0, se 9.0 (the handout said se 8.5 but ken said that was in error and that se is 9.0). they adopted it as a standard for those situations where 1000' is determined appropriate, we'll all be the same.

henry went over "advisorys". he was the one that said 1000' in 2016. it seems to me that the rules committee (clubs) would need to vote on this if it's intended to be -the- standard distance described in the rule book (i.e., if it's in the rule book the rules committee needs to approve it). I did not get a sense that this has already been voted on for 2016 because it is not and was not presented as a "rule change". there was nothing handed out in writing that said 1000' in 2016. so, at least from what I can tell, it's not quite a "done deal" yet.

like I mentioned to someone else, if racers don't like this idea, they better be spending some time letting their respective club management know how they feel. there's no question that with everything from tfh to qe, except pm, running 1000', it makes life easier for towers to make everything the same distance (and if pm agrees with this change, then it's everything from tfh through qe). so there is -some- logic to making this change and having everybody running the same distance. there was a big race in vegas a month or two ago, outlaw pm, nhra legal pm, and a ton of other classes. it was almost impossible to tell what was running 1000' and what wasn't. a lot of bouncing back and forth. announcers were more interested in telling stories than announcing. as a casual spectator, very frustrating.

they didn't say anything about a tnt on Thursday at the spring race. the fall (September) race is Friday Saturday and sunday. if things go the way they did the last half of last season, they'll do t&t in the morning, one round of qualifying in the afternoon on Friday. then 2 more rounds of qualifying on Saturday for the 3 day races. we will see how this works out.

I'm going by the schedule they handed out at the meeting in vegas. I see a couple of things on the sched they posted on the website, like shortening the world finals by a day, which doesn't sound realistic. there was an unusual number of races that were wind affected last year. so they came up with some "ideas" to try and work around the wind issues. the second half of last year, they adopted a different schedule that had t&t Friday morning, then one round of qualifying Friday afternoon. he didn't mention whether or not that will be continued this year. but the only way they can do that is with a 3 day race. my "guess" is that all of these 2 day deals on the schedule are "subject to change". the one thing that would be accurate are the weekends they're scheduled.
