This is from another thread in the EVENTS section, Im going to try and make the NORTHERN route drive from I-70 when I get home in a week and post up some info:

" Wheatland, MO Dragboat race July 29, 30, 31
Just drove by the new Lucas facility at Wheatland and it is going to be something!

I took two routes in to get an idea of how folks from my part of the country (from Central Arkansas) might want to go. I initially went in on 65 to I-44. Went West on 44 to 13. North on 13 to hwy 54 at Collins, took 54 15 miles into Wheatland. It does look a bit shorter breaking off hwy 13 at Bolivar, but that whole road is 25 miles to Wheatland and two-lane with NO SHOULDER. This pic is for all you Toter-home and Dually types taking large haulers up with you...it's on Hwy 83. Also, you have to make a couple of immediate left and right turns downtown Bolivar.

It's a much better pull for those of you with large trailers to just go on up 13 a bit further to Collins and take 54 on in.

Here's a shot of the starting line...sorry the pic isn't so good...done with a phone camera.

Good luck to all that show up! Sure to be a good time!

Circle track racing Saturday night too...ON DIRT

Photos and drive info...

Im about 45 mimutes west of the St Louis airport, add another 3 hrs and 15 minutes drive to the Wheatland facility...

The owner of the Wheatland motel said that it is a one hour drive from Springfield MO to Wheatland for those of you coming in from TX or OK via Hwy 44... His motel is really new and clean BUT it's small and only has 10 rooms... PM me if you want info on OTHER lodging in the Camdenton/Osage Beach (42 miles away)...

Glad you posted this. I was thinking that cutoff at Bolivar looked a little county road-like, with the 90 degree curves and all. I think I will stay on 13, since it will be nightime. Google shows it to be about 11 miles further.

HOT!!!!!!!

The sun reflects off the crushed limestone in the pits and I think it must be what it's like in Bonneville.
the water is beautiful green, the ramps are great, we are set up on the finish line and would post up pictures, but I've seemed to have lost my camera. This place is great, gonna be a long hot day. Got a capsule in my hotel room, gonna be a shocker for the cleaning girl. We pre measured the 4runner and the capsule weeks ago and it said it would fit. It didn't.
Bent the roof up, girlfriend was crying, we kept shoving and bending and had to strap the back door down. This morning I unbolted the folded down back seats and am gonna take the top hook off the capsule and we'll be back in business. We'll fill the capsule with our stuff before we shove it back in.
Lucas has the pits locked down, had to jump through hoops to get the car in.(told you Richie and Ed)
The pits are loaded with lotsa big boats,Spirit,Problen,Speed Sport,I haven't seen Toxic Rocket. Shazam is here.
Got a new camcorder, will post up some video tomorrow,if my hangover allows......
