    A crate motor from PepBoys will not last long at all in a marine environment. Valve guides in the heads would need to be a bit looser or it very well might seize a valve and trash the motor. A GM crate motor would be the bare minimum for a crate and even then would need a handful of hours of proper break-in to attempt to live in a boat.

    Best method would be to freshen what is in there. Reynolds Machine over on AltaVista is who I use locally. Mostly have my engines built by Ron Blades at RPM in Tulare.

    hey bro a guy at work just got a boat. it appears to have a standard 350 that hasn't ran since 07 and is missing the dip stick and a carb. who could he take it too to be rebuilt. or would a crate motor from pep boys be just as good. he's not looking to go fast just wants it to run good.

    might have found a 25' tahitti in paso. old school day cruiser asking 4500 with a one year old motor and out drive. found it on craigs list. we will see.
