Thanks so much for that. The type clear you used would be greatly appreciated, as I may have to go that route if wet sanding and polishing out doesn't bring it back. I did check the Berk site and found that my pump matches the "F" model, but like you said, they are the same except with trim. Very good possibility of maybe an option or added later as well. Thanks
  2. I will see if I can find the type of clear I used on mine as it wasnt typical auto clear coat. I added a very small amount of the metallic to mine to help bring back the sparkle and it really looks great. I believe that the "F" model pump is the same as the "E" except with trim-a-just. Yours may have an optional trim package, or perhaps it was added later on?? You may have the jet-o-vater...

I actually have just found some more details about Cimmaron Inc, and have recieved another e-mail back from the dealer that sold my boat new. So I am going to just cram it all in my profile in case it can be helpful to others. It's been great talking with you, and I appreciate all the info and support. I'll throw anything I may find about GMC Cobrajets your way, and give me a shout any time, especially if you ever wander down here to the gateway in Texas.

Yeah, LOL, I haven't done any cosmetic work to the boat yet since I got it in late fall. It seems my boat hasn't been cleared, so I hope to be able to just strip the trim, wet sand and polish it out. If not, I'll deffinately go have it clear coated, as anything to save that wicked cool metalic blue and silver. My pump is the 12-JE per it's metal tag, and the original Berk Jet-Pac paper card that came with the boat. The numbers all match on the tag and card, but strange thing is,,,,it has trim???? In my pics you can see my foot trim control, as well as the factory switch and trim guage on my dash??? This was a discussion point with other family members who all own jet boats with Berks, and we are all baffled as to why. Only guess is maybe it was mis-tagged at Berk?? I'm going to check out the Berk site and look at the diagrams to see if it's really a JF, as this is my first jet boat, but want to at least have my stats right LOL.

WOW! That hole shot, more like sling shot, is just insane. I'm glad to know your boat handles well at 70 mph, as was a big question for me with these boats being only 16'. After I had the engine rebuilt and everything mechanical squared away, we took it out to Caddo Lake to break it in. At the end of the end of the day, I had throttle to what sounded like a good easy cruising speed, and my wife pulled a GPS speed reading of 54 mph with my speedo reading 52 mph. Cutting through the tight winding river channels, the boat handeled great. We can't wait till spring comes so we can take it out again to see what she tops out at. I know I won't come any where near the speed of your boat, but thanks to your comment, it seems it will handle its top speed well.
  6. Oh yea, I've got more pics on myspace also. And my pump is an
"F" model, not and "E"...which is an "E" with trim
  7. My hull looked a lot like yours after a few years (faded and such). I ended up taking a razor blade and scraping all the old clear coat off and re-shooting it with clear. I added House of Color metallic to the first 2 coats, with 2 more straight clear. It turned out really nice. You may not have clear coat on yours, but the previous owner of mine had sprayed it on. It looked good when I bought it but they didnt prep it very well and eventually looked like hell. Currently, my boat is stored indoors so I'm not too concerned. 3 years on my own re-do and it still looks like new. I also have a couple videos on youtube. I will try to find a link to them...

  8. I'm pretty sure it is a splash of a tahiti design...very similiar to the one seen in the Berk advert for world record holder of 79 mph in 1967 or something like that. My boat so far actually handles very well over 70mph. I'm not sure how fast I've actually had it yet. About 10 years ago we GPS'd it with the stock engine at 70mph. With the new "hot rodded" engine, I've GPS'd at 67, but I was having issues. I've got the engine sorted out now, but then I ruined the pump (urgh!!) I've gained about 400 rpm since the last time I checked the GPS speed. I am careful not to cut the throttle too quickly though. My hull also has quite a bit of hook to the back, so it stays pretty well planted and stable with the drawback being lower top end. It's plenty fast for me though, especially in a 16 footer!! Hole shot is incredible hee hee

It was great to her back from you. That is one sweet boat you have there for sure. I can only hope to get mine looking that good in the future. That BBC <454?> has to scoot your boat quite well, and would love to know what the hull acts like over 70 mph. Deffinately some good information here in my attempts to find out the origins of my boat. I as well have heard that my boat was a splash of a Tahiti / Glastron hull, but no one has ever known anything about Cimmaron Inc of Tn. Our hulls look identical, and yours being a 79 was before Cimmaron started in 82. I am deffinately going to research General Marine Corp, as I would love to know if this was their original design, and more about them. Thanks again for the reply and info about your boat, and I'll deffinately pass along anything significant I may find out about General Marine Corp back to you.
  10. Wow!! That looks nearly identical to mine!! Mine is a 1979 GMC (General Marine Corp) CobraJet, 16 ft with a Berk JE. I have heard mine is a splash of a Tahiti angle transom hull. Mine also has a different engine cover (which I am currently not using) Mine came stock with an Indmar 454, but from what I can tell most CobraJets came with Olds engines. I have more pictures of mine on facebook if you wanna check them out.
