    MSD rev chips are known to be terribly inaccurate and inconsistent. A 5700 chip could easily let the engine go over 6000 before it started pulling it...

    It's going to depend on the use or abuse. The 200hr mark seems to be what Merc Marine uses. If the springs are in spec, you can continue to use them...
