Looks good. I dunno how Sanford is going to work out. Last time I was there with an offshore mid the Sherrif told me to leave before I even got my boat off the trailer. So I went to Wixom and had fun.

It isn't 1998, majority of precincts don't have the budget or manpower this year to station an officer at every boat ramp. Same goes for DNR with no money, we got bothered once at Charlevoix last year but they didn't hand out tickets.

Let's do a river cruise on that open weekend. Doesn't have to be the Saginaw river necessarily, any river with a bar will do. Was bummed we didn't do one last year.

It was'nt 1998, and Midland county has plenty of money for police. beleedat. My GF mother has a house on the lake. Just sayin', so be prepared. It'll be a fun meet if the law is nice, there is no shortage of eye candy there on a hot weekend. Dr. Love might need to be regularly hosed down with ice water. Plenty of appeciative people around too if you show up with a hot rod.

Can you speak to overnight accommodations? Sounds nice.

Wixom is way better and not the color of coffee. There might be a couple small hotels up the road from the dnr ramp, but I don't think there is much in lodging near by.

A twenty minute drive is better than a 2+hr drive if we get some members from up north or from the west side, that's why I was inquiring. Someone want to make a thread to take votes or should we just call it.

Edit: You're right, midland has the most modern stuff. Looks like Gladwin is nearby to with a couple options.

Just my 2cents here......When making a suggestion on boating places make sure ALL the boats can run. Last I looked, this was MHB. We need to be aware....jets don't like weedy lakes....v-drives don't like the hidden stumps, and the cops don't like loud exhaust. I would love to come boat on your lake and to look at the rockets on the beach...and maybe eye candy, but make sure we can run there as a group. I don't like to trailer 6 hours to a ramp that has more cops than our "meth meet" had. I can stay home and get a ticket. I like to see all the boats and watch them run....don't make some of us "trailer queens"....I like to run my boats....The Rat posted a picture of Cooke lake? what about that place.....come up with places WE can all boat on!

Mike I agree. Without these kind of suggestions though, it'll be the same taco on a different night. I really don't think cops are that much of a problem anymore, but it appears you guys saw something different the past couple years.

Where's Rat to post more details about his suggestion?

PAGING MR. RAT, PLEASE PICK UP THE COURTESY PHONE.

There won't/should'nt be much of a problem at Wixom. Sanford is more crowded at the beach/launch area which is about the only place to hang out and several jetski incidents make for a closer eye kept there. IF they are nice it's a good time.

Wixom is more spacious, the water and sand is much cleaner and there is more room to run. The area by the east dam and pontoon alley are great places to hang out. I've spent a LOT of time on both lakes.

Too bad you guys didn't come to the "Winter Party" and help us make these plans. Oh well, maybe next year. Chet

    I like it.

Throwing up a thread a week or 2 before an event seems to generate interest or light a fire under someone's ass to be there.

I want those of you that are willing to go to Sanford lake know that the picnic area has already been reserved for us. I'm hearing Pros and Cons on this Lake, but I think we should at least try it before we decide if it's good or not. Maybe things have changed. I know that Oscoda used to chase us out with the Cops and now they love us. Let's try it. Chet
