Well I have to eat my works again.
I have been hunting for a pontoon boat.
I want to bring my kids and grandkids along and the Eliminator just doesn't have the space.

I've looked at a few and they all have a huge motor bolted to the back like an afterthought.

I am actually looking for a 23' Tritoon Manitou or comparable with a 150 hp + outboard.
If I could find one that someone actually took care of and didn't leave sitting in the water for years on end that would be a huge plus. If I can't find something soon I am ready to spring for a new one.

I guess I'll just have to wear a bag over my head so no one recognizes me on the water. :)sphss

PT Boat

Thank Goodness!!!! I thought you bought a JET BOAT !!!! My buddie built a Tri Toon with a fuel injected tuned port 350 Chevy. It's not for sale, he uses it at Indian River=Burt Lake, cranks along at about 60 no problem and will run about 68 mph. He's been screwing around with it for about 5 years, got all the 'bugs' out of it finally last summer. He's pretty happy with it. Don't know any of the particulars but I can give you his # if your interested in piecing one together.

To bad you don't live around here, there are close to 4 dozen on c/l.
Good idea looking for a whacker, the outdrive deals are kinda piggy to work on the motor. I put a fuel pump in an f.i. deal last year, i could build another shortblock for my boat for the price of the pump.

Thanks for the feedback.
The Evinrude E-tec seems to be a popular choice for a pontoon boat.
Others advised me to go with a 2 cycle outboard as opposed to a 4 cycle.
I guess the new ones don't smoke at all.
I want to be able to pull a slalom skier or tubers.
My granddaughter is 7 and about ready to start skiing. She does pretty good on a snowboard now.

The Eliminator isn't going anywhere but I will have time to address some of the cosmetics on it that look like hell.
The old scow is 31 yrs old now and was rode hard and put away wet ever since I've had it. :)sphss

Mark , I'll keep my eyes open for a nice used one ""Very Hard To Find""..And Remember I sell PREMIER , BENNINGTON AND MANITOU if your looking for new.

Also I'm working on a trade in a 2013 Manitou Legacy w/150hp E-Tec HO Lift kept and covered . I'll let you know if we end up with it.
Guys traded in for new Bennington with a Big Block.

If that Manitou is a tritoon I would be interested in it.
That model may be too much for my budget though.

Mark I pulled the kids for years behind Mrs. Infomaniac's boat. It's a 21' Seebold. Her back is jacked up and she said sell it. Not a pontoon but a cool boat. Give me a call.

This will be our 3rd summer with ours.
Nice and comfy.
Doesn't haul with only a 75 2 stroke, but wife ad kids enjoy it.
I know many push the e-tec, but I wish ours was a 4 stroke and would think 'toon is best application for one IMO
Happy shopping.

Seems like prices are up there due to demand too.

I don't know squat about outboards even though I have a couple but when I asked a distributor of outboard motors as to the amount of oil a 2 cycle E tec would consume and he said it was close to what a 4 cycle outboard would consume over the course of an oil change interval.
Does that make sense ?

I just want to be sure I don't have a smoker even though my pile went up in smoke the last time out. :duh:

Here's a pic of my new barge.
Gotta say its pretty fun having so much room in the boat when your used to so little.
It's so quiet you can talk as your cruising along as opposed to wearing ear plugs.
We'll be at Hardy on Sunday.

Now I feel even more Grandpaw then before.
Talk about a total loss of identity :hmmm:
