Ya we made sure of that. That's why we waited so long to put up the scheduled.

Just a suggestion here how about making Oscoda foote pond the last meet of the year? Oct 4 The fall colors would be great up there that time of the year. Plus Oscoda is one of the best turn outs of the year for the hot boats. Very surprised it's not on the schedule this year.

As does the Wamplers opener and closer every year; it's a staple of MHB I would say. Maybe suggest Oscoda for Sept 27th or Oct 11th if fall colors are a priority.

Chet already mentioned in the other thread that he set his schedule for Oscoda and Otsego so let's see what he has to say.

    Default New to the area...

Watched some of youtube vid's from some of last years events and it's nice to see a wide variety of boat types. Can someone tell me if there are any state restrictions or requirements at these events as far as inboards go such the need for mufflers, water injected headers, etc.???? Thanks

The legal, politically correct answer is all state laws apply.

We generally seek out lakes where we're either welcomed or don't have a DNR presence. Guys have gotten away with wet or dry headers without issues. The only time in the last 4 years (that I'm aware of) that we were approached by DNR/lake cops was at Charlevoix when a couple of the boys were running zoomies on blown alcohol motors. No tickets handed out, just asked to keep the noise down.

Marble Lake's Hot Boat weekend has a DNR special event permit for racing and exhibition. Boats do not need to conform to USCG regulations-- No noise or other restrictions are in place within the race course and the Corn Island sandbar, HOWEVER, the non-conforming boats need to be driven DIRECTLY to the sandbar where the hot passes and grudge races take place, and driven DIRECTLY to the launch at the end of the day. Speed and noise limits are still in effect for the rest of the lake. If you want to explore the lake and the rest of the lake chain, you should bring your mufflers. The race course is usually around 600 feet to keep speeds reasonable, offer a good shut-down zone, and to give the jet boats a chance. The local law enforcement will protect the buoyed area at the end of the course to keep lake traffic out. This is a totally noise-and-speed-friendly event. Zoomies and NOS are OK. I will likely attend and shoot photos as I have in past events. Prints will be available in the weeks following the event.

The Wamplers Lake dates are scheduled before and after the normal boating season, and usually we do not have a strong law enforcement presence on those weekends. The lake is split between counties, so it's possible for either Sheriff patrol to make a surprise visit. When the cat is away, the mice will play. If the swim buoys are in place, we must park to the South of the swimming area, or pull up to the peninsula near the launch canal. The launch is at the far North end of the park, beyond the beach parking area. If you arrive and it looks like nobody is there, just keep driving to the far end of the main lot, where you'll find the driveway to the launch parking.

Very good possibility of that! Might get half of us to show up at Marble. Scott and Kim won't be able to make Marble Lake. That marina is a zoo that time of the year.

Well If you decide to make the trip I have room for a camper and tents at the house. Also I'm thinking of a corn roast that night as well something I've been doing for the last few years always a great time.
And as a side note I just picked up 5 acers w/barn 1.5miles away from hardy with tons of room for what ever if we want to put together a big weekend this summer.
