Default New to Drag Boats in Michigan

I recall a few of the names I see here in this site and I am hoping to get some help with my Sanger from fellow Michiganders...I purchased this 85 Drag Hydro a few years back and it has yet to ever see a drop of water in its life..Still wearing its original gelcoat it has never been rigged and not a hole has been drilled in her hull..I am in need of a trailer as well..I have a ton of V Drive hardware but no powerplant as of yet..Looking forward to meeting people on this site and getting this boat project underway...Jim

That's a real nice boat and a rare find.
Tony Amato has a Sanger hydro like that.
I'm going to the Autorama in GR today and I think his boat is in the show.

Rig that thing and hang out with us at Hardy this summer

I bought a brand new Kindswater pickle fork hydro blank hull in 1974 and rigged it from scratch. Your project will be much easier with the help from these forums. All the tech info you need is right at your fingertips. THESE GUYS ARE GREAT !!! Two things I would suggest right away are the BIGGEST engine you can afford and a high end outboard (off the transom ) steering system. Anything you need all the v-drivers on the forum can find reasonable and you can usually have it at your door in 2 or 3 days !!!! Welcome to the gang !!!! Also, and( I could be wrong) , the less degree you run in your v drive, the farther ahead you can run your motor and will sit more level in the boat. There are guys on the boards that can give you all the measurments.

I have a road trailer for a hydro sitting in my driveway in Troy, Michigan. Come and get it for $400 bucks!

Take your time in researching hydros before you drill a single hole. It would be a tragedy to make a mistake on this hull. My thought would be to either go with original Sanger hardware throughout and make it a vintage piece, or go full modern and make it a race boat. Don't just start slapping parts on it because you have them.

    Default thanks...

Many thanks to Jim aka DetroitJim for responding to my post and selling me a much needed trailer for a great price...He was also very informative on how I should approach my Sanger build...Its nice to see that there are still people in this world that are willing to go that extra mile...Looking forward to meeting more of you from this site and partaking in this killer hobby...
