I wasn't there but they passed the message on that my boat is to loud for the lake and they got at least 25 complaints today, I saw the pontoon getting my #'s and taking pics. I have the quietest baffles in it that I can buy and a bunch of water to the headers. what do you guys think of this?
pontoons and lake lice... wait it can get worse-one of them and it only takes one can go and swear you have an incomplete exhaust system and then you look at 10000 and 6 months in jail - Cops-they can greet you but if the police arent witness they are powerless-blame the arses that cant handle a little noise and I hate michigans laws but same everywhere been there done that -next time give the P>O> your phone number and save him a trip...K.C
I will get ahold of the cop on monday and ask them to check the boat, its not that bad, and all im doing is a bit of test and tune, I only had it on the water for 30 min. and cruised most of the time. plenty of water to the headers and the full blocker baffles. I may change my address to a p.o. box so they stop scaring my family, they thought the cop was there to tell them the bad news!
Adam if it wasnt the marine cop- forget it- if it was then you can get a sticker to put next to your mc numbers that means its legal and been tested but land cops cant do the test or give you a safetey pass- probably just old people shock but who knows-just sayin ...shite happens and we cause it ...roads... harleys... well thats ok now but 30 years ago ...not so much .
ok, maybe I shouldn't call him on monday, and it was not the water cops, it was the street cops. thanks for the input on this, im not trying to piss anyone off, and im not running it hard near houses. is there somewhere I could print the MI. laws for boats? thanks
Was tested last summer on Lake Bellaire, it didn't pass. I think it was 105, and I have the good Bassett baffles in my OT headers. Jimbo was there and tested also, I think his was 100. He has Lightning thru transom headers. The fee was 300.00, we wrote the magistrate and they reduced the fee to 100.00 The law states "A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment for not more than 90 days and a fine of not less than $100.00 or more than $500.00. Additionally, before putting the motorboat back in use, a person who violates this section is required to install an effective muffler or underwater exhaust system that meets the requirements of this section on the motorboat in violation at his or her expense." Wamplers cops tend to just make sure we have baffles in.
