Default Marbe Lake Hot Boat Races

Everything is good to go with this deal. We had a meeting thur nite with the DNR and sheriff's dept. There is a new owner of the island and he has agreed to designate Phil Curtis as the one who will be setting up the course. Same rules as before, there will be floating bouys around the shutdown area that they want everyone to stay within, this will be strictly enforced. And there will be a roped area for spectators to stay behind and he is also trying to get bleachers to set on the island as well as a porta potty will be there. Passengers are not encouraged to go down the course with a driver but if it needs to happen they will be required to sign the same form as the boat owner. There plans are to keep this going, they encourage people to show and in the future there are plans on a christmas tree and other improvements. Races start at 6 pm to 9 pm. We are also asked to stay in the course area to warm engines and not scream up and down the entire lake. Any questions please ask, or call Phil AFTER 6pm at (517) 639-8484

Big thanks to all you guys for your efforts in putting this together.

I would suggest that rather than the expense of the tree and timing lights, the way they do the starts down at Blarney island is easy.

That gives a great place for pics and videos too.

My boat is just as fast in the summer as it is in the winter but it's not quite ready yet. We fired up the new engine this past weekend and she sounds great, maybe even faster, but we still have a few odds and ends to do before she's ready for Marble. If we can, we'll come out without "Wildfire", and see whats going on. Chet

Correction on that phone number. 517-462-1557
Also any input from you guys on ideas to make this a better event will also be helpful. The porta potty is in place. There are picnic tables and grills now on the island for public use. Bleachers are still in the plans, as high water levels have brought on other projects first. FYI: Waivers can be signed at the pontoon with sea legs on the sandbar. --Phil

Looks like we are going to cancel for this evening. Its predicted high temp of 64 and a 40% chance of rain isnt worth waiting till the last minute to cancel. So see ya on July 8th

Whats the chance for this Friday, since its been cancelled twice. The forecast is good. I don't want to take away from people going to Curtis or the early start to the 4th weekend. I'm going to Blarney's Island Thursday and have Friday off. Just a thought.

I'm ok with not doing it this Friday. I ran at Hardy Sunday and dropped a piston. A certain 30+ cat saved one of it's lives. I've cleaned and honed the hole and installed a new piston. She's ready to rock again. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!!
