    Default First time trying Methanol

Well I put the Methanol in the tanks and fired it up on the E85 tune.
It ran great as always for a while until the lines were purged out. Then it started to run rough.

I switched the "fuel energy constant" number in the FAST XFI program from .65 for E85 fuel to .43 for Methanol.
It started right up good again and it was a little lean on idle. The O2 sensor reads the methanol just as well as Ethanol.

I richened up the idle and some parts of the map for a minute and it ran good.
Idles just as smooth as Ethanol at 1000 rpm. Great throttle response.
Warmed right up same as ethanol. Didn't run cold like I expected.

    Shes ready for Hardy.

I'm done running Methanol for the year but I still have about 12 gallons left in the drum. I don't know if this will keep well until next summer.

If anyone needs some I'll bring the drum to Hardy Party on Saturday Sept 10 or call me at 616 813 7237

I could go end to end at Hardy, about 35 miles on 13 - 15 gallons of E85.
The same distance on Methanol would take around 22 gallons.

My tune was pretty good too so I wasn't dumping in fuel that wasn't going to get burned.
I'll try it again next year. The engine ran real smooth on it.
The last day I ran it we hammered it hard too.
Had some fun running along with this Texas boat who was visiting,

I look for him to come back next year with a serious turbo engine program similar to Hass.
He's a fabricator and can make it happen.
