We're sorry to hear about Matt. I felt he was making a turn around with the boat and all and I'm sure we'll miss him coming around when we're there. Let us know what caused his death. Thanks Chet and Scott

Klondike Canoe Race lives up to its name with frigid weather

TOP LOCAL TEAM - Jeff Kassuba of East Tawas and 15-year-old Matt Curley of Oscoda head downstream in the final stretch of Saturday's Klondike Canoe Race. The team finished 12th overall, and top among local racers. Matt is the son of local paddler and race official Kevin Curley, who died recently at age 44. The team used Kevin's canoe in the race, which sported, as most boats did, an upside-down #32 sticker in memory of him. More on Page 12. - Photo by Jim Dunn

Great guy, wild and crazy and lived life on the edge. I seen someone say it reminds them of them self when they were young, im with ya there. I hung out with him lastyear and had a blast, i just talked to him a few days ago, he told me i missed out at oscoda and he missed me as a drinking buddy. Sad day, and way to young for this. R.I.P. bud......to much of this going on this year...

That's like the 20th time he's gone by today?"
