It's not as harsh on a fuel system as Methonal is, most of todays components tolerate the ethonal in the fuels we presently burn. Plan on burning about 30-40% more fuel. On blown or High Compression applications, there are more benifits over race gas.

Methanol’s octane rating is 129 (RON), 103 (MON), which equates to 113 (AKI)
Ethanol's octane rating is 129 (RON), 102 (MON), which equates to 116 (AKI).
Gasoline is approximately 91 (RON), 81 (MON), equal to 86 (AKI)

    AKI is 'Anti-Knock Index'

I Was Kicking Around Using It. If I Did Would Steel Braid Work, Or Would I Have To Put In Hard Line? I Might Just Go With The Aluminum Hard Line Any Way. Ploished Up, It Looks Better Any How.

I'm ready to switch to E85 as soon as the wiring harness for my new EFI shows up from F.A.S.T. I'm going to switch EFI systems at the same time so I can run a closed loop / self tuning setup.

Meijers has E85 for $ 3.49 / gal. That appears to be the best source for me.
There is an E85 station in Greenville that would be convenient but they want
    $ 3.99 / gal.

I never did find any source for E100 or E98.

    Default E85 crap or no

I have a stupid question. I know that some of this stuff eats up fiberglass gas tanks. Is it E85, ethanol or methanol that I need to stay away from if I have fiberglass gas tanks. Thanks.

Even the ethonal in the gas today, ravages the glass fuel tanks.

Funny......Ethanol was meant to be a reasonable priced alternative to Arab oil.
Once the distributors get a hold of it there's no limit to how much they can rape and pillage.
The end result is that NO ONE will buy it when it cost the same price as gas and you use 20% + more of it.

I can't make oil but I CAN make Ethanol.

I know that the e85 is more expensive to make than what it is selling for. Right now the production is not very efficient and IIRC e85 production is still heavily subsidized by the gov`t. I can`t imagine if they stopped subsidizing it.

It is beginning to be a benefit in some areas though. My uncle lives near ottawa IL and he was asking me about switching his 4.8L truck over. He said right now regular is between 3.99 and 4.15 out there.....and e85 was 2.75

    Crap!!

If you want to run alky then run alky. If you want 110 then run 110. You want nitro then run nitro.
