Muskegon Boat Time Activities: August 16-19, 2012
Come Shake the Lake and enjoy why Muskegon Lake is a great recreational venue.

    What's Boat time all about?
A celebration and showcase of Muskegon Lake as a great recreational and tourist venue.

    What can I do?
If you own a boat, explore. Dock at the Boaters Dune Area, head to the Breakwater Coves and enjoy the fun on the lake. Head to Heritage Landing and listen to great country music, join the Sunset Boaters Jam Party in the LST Cove for some Buffett style music. In general have some fun. Don't forget to paddle with Dave Alexander of M-live during the community paddle.

No boat, no problem. Take a tour of the 3 historical vessels located on the Lake. Take a cruise on the Port City Princess. Join the Sunset Music Jam on the deck of the LST393. Visit one of the great beaches, or eat at one of the great restaurants hosting parties and music.

Don't forget to Shake the Lake. Record a video of your favorite person doing a shake in or near the lake. Tag it on Facebook to Lake Effect Boat Time and you can win great prizes.

By land or lake it’ s time to showcase the Muskegon Lake Effect. “Muskegon is a beautiful place to live, work and play. From the Lake Michigan lighthouse on the pier, to the Shoreline Inn downtown you can find a great place to relax and refresh on the shores of Muskegon.” Lake Effect leader Roger Zuidema coordinates the fun and plans are coming together for a fantastic 2012 Boat Time. “We need to continue to grow the tourism aspect of the Blue economy being developing here in Muskegon. By showing the world our great natural playground we can continue to develop the vision, Muskegon is sitting on a gold mine and it’s colored, blue.” Zuidema invites everybody to attend one of the planned activities or the spontaneous fun that happens everyday.

Muskegon Lake Effect Boat Time, August 16-19: Come “Shake the Lake” as we celebrate the Summer Lake Effect for the 2012 Muskegon Boat Time. From informal boater raft-ups, marina parties, Boat Jam, all sailors, paddlers and power boaters can show-off, and share some fun. Enjoy “Docking at the Dunes” and “Packing the Breakwater Pier”. Take time to visit the lake’s historic ships (USS Silversides, LST 393, Milwaukee Clipper). Watch visitors come and go on the Lake Express Ferry, visit the great beaches and eat at awesome restaurants. Come see what makes Muskegon Lake a great place for fun on and off the water.

If you’re visiting Muskegon from out of town we suggest you book a night at the Shoreline Inn or the Muskegon Harbor Holiday Inn. Out of town boaters can find slips at the Hartshorn Marina, Terrace Pointe Marina, Great Lakes Marina, or the Muskegon Yacht Club. Dockers Fish House, the Lakehouse Grille and Bear Lake Tavern are also great Muskegon Lake restaurants to enjoy great food and friends.
