i havent been to shelbyville yet but its on my list of places to go this summer, we went to lake koshkonong just across the border in wi a couple weeks ago and liked it alot, and its only about 2 hours from us. no trouble from the law up there on my trip and the water was pretty good the west end of the lake was smooth the whole weekend.

I have been there, and it is not really jet boat friendly. Lots of BIG boats. It is a beautiful place and if you are go out at non peak times it is really nice. I have also heard the fishing is good.

Your lucky then, they seem to target jet boats of any type on Kosh, except on race day. My friend had a Taylor 20.5 was sitting in the middle of the lake, Sherrif pulled up and wanted to db his boat. He did so, and failed and was told to never bring the boat back. Funny... he told the sherrif that he owned a house, on north shore, and had owned the boat for 4 years, and never had any problems. After saying this, the boat got searched, and his buddy who was sitting in the drivers seat at the time got a dui. He never even drove the boat, but happened to be sitting in the drivers seat, when they pulled up.

I would fight that until I was black&blue and broke that is just wrong unless they seen him driving.

Lake Shelbyville is pretty nice IMO. But, I only live about 45 minutes away. There are some BIG boats on it though. It is about 12,000 acre and it is used for flood control so the last 2 years it has been about 15 feet over normal summer pool. It is probably about 7 feet over normal pool now. Good thing about that is the sand bars that are about 2 feet below the surface at normal pool are now about 9. I have not heard of anyone getting hassled over noise and there are some big twin I/Os with open exhaust.

I boated there for about eight years until I moved back to Indy. You'll be ok in a smaller boat as long as stick to some of the coves like wolf creek etc.. Or when the lake is not too busy. As far as noise restictions go? No worries. I've seen many 100 plus mph boats on that lake with no problems.

By the way check out cove #5. That's the party cove...
