    Default HELP! Northeast Indiana boating...

Hey guys, I'm around Fort Wayne/Angola, IN.

I see a bunch of lakes on the map (Lake James and Jimmerson Lake). But after hours of searching I can't find any boat ramps.

Please help me find a place to boat!

Hey Bud, just posting to let you know that you're not being ignored. I just don't know if there is anyone familiar with your area. In all the years I've been on HB & PB forums I don't recall any Indiana boaters posting on here. Welcome, and good luck with your search! Jocko

No problem. I actually found 2 public boat ramps and 1 pay-to-launch ramp. One was on Big Otter Lake (it's a medium otter, at best), one on Jimmerson, and the private was between Jimmerson and James. It was a series of about 7 lakes that are connected by channels. I had a good time, but it would've been a LOT more fun if the channels weren't "no wake zones".

I don't think many jet boats go there - because there were a LOT of pictures being taken of my boat. I did see 3 Chris Craft mahogany boats on the lake, though.

I think next time out I'll probably try out Wawasee.

There is more fisheing up there than recreational boating. You may check with the bait shops or local marinas for suggestions. It may also be good idea to ask if there is speed limit on the lake. Some of the smaller lakes have Hp limits and speed limits. How far are you willing to travel? There are some more resort type places further West in Culver or Knox area.

I used to live in Ft wayne, did alot of boating at Salamonie lake. Nice lake, boats of all types. it has nice cove in side of an island in the main part of the lake. good place to have a bon fire and meet some other boaters. nice sand there too. used the state park launch.
