I have never boated on Fort Gibson... Most all my boating is done on Lake Tenkiller which is narrow and long with lots of little coves and bluffs... I don't know anything about Fort Gibson lake other than it is really shallow in spots and looks like Big water when I go over the bridge at Taylors Ferry or over the dam. It was really whitecapping yesterday

Your right Punisher about Tenkiller,I lived just a few miles from Tenkiller when I was growing up.The last few years that I"ve been to Fort Gibson its a little like Tenkiller it just did"nt have the little coves but I was alwas far north of the bridge. This year is the first in two that I've had a boat and its almost ready.

We usually put in at Elk Creek on Lake Tenkiller - Boat ramp has perfect slope and 3 boats can go in or our at a time. Then we usually do most of our boating right in that area which is right in front of Cherokee Landing. Big bluffs to the south keep the wind off the water there and make for a better time. Sometimes we make a Dam Run which is as far south as we can go... I will be camped at Elk Creek this weekend, doing a little boating tonight and tomorrow...

I am heading to Gibson this weekend. I've never been there, are there a lot of hot boat guys out there? I keep hearing about this fun island or party island or something. Where should I put in? What should I look for? Thanks!

You can put in at Rocky Point head north and follow someone tht knows the channel to the island. Or you can put in at Maize or Choteau and head south. You can't miss the island.

theres a house on the cliff overlooking the island.
