Motor is in the boat, all plumbing and electrical is connected, and just about ready to fire. I think Rob is starting to get a big woody as we are close. Should be hitting the key with just an hours worth of work or so.
After that we still need a few hours of misc things done, like mounting the seats and building some new plug wires.
Assuming everything works we will be at the race next weekend. Plus I heard Rob is bringing the BEER!!
Jimmy--we are actually really close. Should be firining it up in a little while. You should come by. I think we will be at the next race, as long as nothing else goes wrong. I don't know how competative it will be since it will be the first time on the water w/o dialing it in. Just have to see.
At approx. 2 pm yesterday afternoon we fired the engine!!!!
It fired right up and ran great! We chased a fuel and carb issue, but changed the needle and seat on one of the bowls and that fixed the carb issue. One of the needles was stuck. I think the fuel pump is shot, so a new one is being Fed Ex'd in. But other than that it runs and sounds awesome!
Special thanks to Bill (bigblockbill)! Dude you rock!
Looks like we are going to try to make the races. I'll be sitting on a pillow in the shell of the seat (no interior yet), but hey, as long as it's taken to get to this point, I don't care if I have to sit on a milkcrate, I wanna DRIVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
I owe special thanks to alot of people who helped us get to this point:
Bill (and his wife for putting up with us), John, Dave, Jimmy, Richard, Paul, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few others. Thanks everyone for your help, knowledge, and most of all time for helping put this boat together! I can't thank you guys enough!
No AFR's yet. LM-2 is on its way. Haven't drilled the holes yet in the headers. Once the needle and seat problem was fixed, it didn't seem too rich at idle, but we didn't know much more than that. Need to mix in some AV gas and float it so we can run it under load.
You mean I have a beer named after me.... Cool !!!
After some 300 plus hours of rigging and fabrication time this thing is coming out quite nice. I am sure Rob is ready to drive it. You know its fun for me spending other peoples money for them. And as I am sure Rob can attest I made him spend plenty.
Now lets just hope it runs half as nice as it looks.
See you all at the lake this weekend... Randal --> you making the tow with the Billy Beer in hand?
Rob your welcome.
