Default So Who Rattled the Dam at the Butte?

We waited until after 9 PM and never heard an anouncement as to who won and where they were from. We sat holding our tickets for the drawing at 8 PM and never heard that either!
Never found out how we could get pictures and DVD's of the Run. The year Don Baca put it on we watched that night at the Dam Site, two years ago. This year in the bar they had last years DVD running. They had some neat prizes back then.
They also had two stops after lunch. This time the card boat was dead in the water off Long's Point. We were almost past it when we realized they were the card pickup station. At it was over.
Everybody thought Friday night would be at Turtle Back with a boat show and vedors showing their wears. Instead it was a Joe Boyden's Open House with his agents.
By the way Joe I'd like to Thank you for your wife not thinking I was good enough to share a glass of your Vodka when we arrived about 7:30 PM and asked if I could get something other than beer. She gaurded it well.
I'll remember that when my wife and I retire in the next couple of years and are looking for a place to move.
In spite of all that BS and what a CF it was we had fun running with everyone and meeting a lot of Great people at lunch. It turned out safe.
But seriously we need to find someone to run this that is a lot more organized and walks their talk.
Don Baca where are you when we need you?
    Thanks, Sundance

Next year give me a shout and meet us at Conchas
or Ute lake. Definitely a different crowd over at the butte. I havent made it up to Navajo yet, but sounds like a friendly crowd up there also.

Participants were Great. It was the people in charge that were the Problem! Poor lack of organization.
A lot of us talking on Sunday wondered where the $'s went? Perofomance Boats if you had anything to do with this run, you'd better look at closely at it.
    Thanks, Sundance

I wanna say that a flush took the pot. First place was $900. Out of six hands I think our best may have been a pair of 8's. We did have about 10 4's, just not enough of them in the same place at the same time. Was a good time and thanks for the hospitality as we were working the gremlins out of the beak boat.

Sundance, Im sorry that it worked out that way!!! I ended up not registering, with fear that my little tunnel would be swamped by all you guy's big boats!! Im glad I didnt too! Just cruising around with you guys I was getting wet!!

I tend to agree with you on the organization thing. As a spectator, I would have only known where to go based off what was posted on the web. Fortunately Darrels girlfriend is a relative of mine, so we had sorta an inside contact.

I still got the kids outta the water fri night to go to turtle back, only to see 2 or 3 boats. The "boat show" ended up at the butte inn, basically!!! A bunch of my friends however, didnt find the boats at all. The next day they all camped on hot springs by the 4 cords of wood that was there, thinking thats where lunch was going to be (as per the website). I told them nooooooo, its now by long point (where we were camped). They didnt listen, didnt see any boats, and went home early in disspointment. Oh well.....

There were some nice boats that showed up though!!! Who owns the orange and blue boat Cat? Is that a nortech or??

Yes that's my jet. Unfortunately she's in Dry Dock. Had someone rebuild the engine a couple of years ago and they screwed it up. Being rebuilt by Statkus this time. Work in progress as I get the $'s.
Did anyone ever hear an anouncement as to who won? Did they ever have a drawing for the tickets or did we just get a Joe Boyden bottle opener?
    Thanks, Sundance

We had a good time down there and it was great meeting the participants... It looks like there are some pretty decent people in New Mexico afterall.

Thanks to those that lent a hand and a running boat while we were trying to get the Fountain jumpstarted.

Sundance,, next time you need vodka,, don't hesitate to ask me,, I usually carry a couple of jugs in the boat

Yeah, that's a 36' Nor-Tech, and he had a very expensive day on the lake losing a prop.

Apparently there were a few other boats who did some rock labbing there as well.

Overall, it was a great time, and of course the weather on Sunday for the drive back North was all blue skies and sunshine... figures!!!

MD, Good meeting you on the lake. We had plenty at the bus. Would have liked one there Friday night. Ended up going over to the Tusk for drinks and food.
Good luck with your projects. How long are you in ABQ for?
    Thanks, Sundance

Great time at the Butte this weekend. I agree with the lack of organization but we had big fun anyway. The party on sat. night was one to remember especially at the butte inn

I thought it was. I talked to him a bit about it when he was idling, seeing if I could be of help.

Anyone know when/where I can get the poker run DVD, or where the pics will be available at???

PW, You should have run. A friend of mine's Lady gets motion sickness. He just ran the outside and had a great time. If my jet was running, that's what i was going to do.
Again, when you or someone finds out where we can get a DVD let me know.
Two years ago they had a table set up afterward you could sign up for it.
This year was a totaly CF.
Also, a friend called and asked how much went to Charity and which Charity.
Would someone from the organizers please step up and answer some of these questions!
    Thanks, Sundance

Yeah I should have just run it. My other reservation was, I jacked up my normal prop 2 weekends ago. The rubber in the flo-torque hub portion was slipping and finally just melted it self until the boat wouldn't move.

So..I had a 24 chopper I hadnt used in a while, with a different setup. I wasn't sure it would work well. It works ok, just have to be careful because it likes to blow out at certain trim levels for some reason (which is a lot of fun at 70mph, BTW).

I figured those of you that were there would know how to get the DVD. I guess Ill have to call up my cousin and see if she knows where we can get them from.

Doesnt Darrel own/run powerboatparty.com or something? Maybe they are available on there??
