using a mexican guy in ft gibson at r&s tractor (its actually a boat place)
he does mostly only boats . . . had good samples of other work and wasnt at all bummed about doing foam and all . . . alot of these yahoos in tulsa seemed stumped that someone would build new seats that would need foam . . they all asked what i did with the old ones . . what old ones ???
he quoted me around 2k for 2 small (2adult) love seats for under the bow, and one large love seat would fit 3 adults or one stretched out long ways facing the rear of the boat then on the driver side one bucket seat that flows into a side ways facing seat plus covering the big sundeck . . . thats basically 400 a part then break that down 200 a peice for materail 200 labor not bad. . . and its the real deal tuck and roll straight 70's brown

which brings us to the paint scheme "disco aint dead" !!! I called and ordered the paint today . . . basically a copperish orange base with candy orange and rootbeer stripes. . . panels and inserts . . kinda like my other boat if you have seen it . . .

i will post pics of it once i get some colors sprayed . . . 23ft double step deck sucks for prep . . im used to 19 fters !!!

im just glad im motivated to work on the heap . . i think i have had it for 3 or 4 years !!!

got a little more done . . hope to have paint finished by this weekend . .

got the sides cleared out saturday evening . . just put the base on the top last night . . . This is a crappy camera im borrowing and pics dont show the "candy" of the paint but you should get the idea . . .

Also picked up 3/4's of the seats yesterday, they came out awesome . .i will post some pics of it when i get time . . . Still got a long haul but atleast im fired up to be workin on a boat !!!

Oh yeah, I think the wife and i picked a name . . . we have had this boat for several years, never had it in the water so nothing just struck home until i started painting. . . Its our family boat and we have two kids so it has to stay kid/family related and friendly . . . We liked "Double Trouble" b/c of our pair of kids and i kinda have this idea that some day it will have the mild twin turbo banks kit that some boats had . . more for nastalgia and the thought than for speed or power . . .

But once i started spraying the golds/trans orange and trans brown The wife and i came of with "Stay Golden" What do you think ?? I know it isnt really a name per say but thats something we have always said ever since the first time we saw the "Outsiders" which was made here in tulsa and is also my boys favorite movie in the hole world . . . Im thinking GOLDEN across the hole rear then stay on and angle smaller above the G

Anyways heres some pics for your satisfaction !!! And i have already been gettting the "it looks like a peice of furniture" or it looks like a coffee table just as i did when i painted the hydro !!!

    Thumbs up

Looking good Dustin, so is this a v-drive cruiser or a jet? Looks like it'll make a great family boat. So do you have an engine in the shovel nose yet, stock, blown or still working on that?

its a as bad as i have to say it jet . . .i considered turning it into a v-drive . .but with the two kids (and there friends) as they grow up it will be much easier and safer with the jet plus i dont have to worry about my wife driving it and bangin the prop if we ever have em there at the same time . . .
And you get a little more interior (in the floor area) room with the jet

When my kids and i grow up i should be able to afford a v-drive cruiser or if this one shows to be that good of a boat i could convert later. . .

The hydro has the engine for this boat in it right now . .just a stocker type 350 hp 454 . . . I need to get some pistons and a few other things for the blower motor . . im backing it down to flat top je's . . . it will come together after the daycruiser is totally ready . . . And if at that time i dont have the money to buy the pistons and such i will put the motor that was originally in my hydro back in it . .thats the best motor i have ever had !!! (not the one that was in it when i met you ) It was a stocker 454 with flat tops and hydraulic cam stock rods stock cast crank . . . It ran pretty good in the hydro
i pulled it to put in my 57 chevy street car with a th400 and 4:11s it ran 12:30 every pass driving it to the track with the same tuneup and carbs . . so then i bought one of the mini b&m blowers and it runs 11:00's now so even that would be a step up in going back in there . . .

Im honestly more worried about gettin the family to the lake than short blasts in the hydro . . . but i am shooting for having them both running this year . . . I bought a dually so we can haul either boat . . we will meet up with everyone sometime this coming year !!!
