    Default Colorado boating???

I was born and raised in Utah, moved out here to MD a couple years ago. Now that I am expecting my first child I am thinking about moving closer to home. I noticed on the internet that there are speed and noise laws in Colorado. How bad are these laws? How enforced are they? Is it bad enough that boating is basically ruined for our kind? I run a 31' Scarab Thunder with a pair of HP500's. I do have switchable mufflers. Would my boat be so out of place there that I would attract all the police? How are the lakes? Kinda looking outside Denver area. Thanks for any info.

I've heard Chatfield res in Denver has strict noise and speed enforcement. 45mph enforced with radar.

2003-2009 I had a 23' daycruiser jet with 454, thru-hull open exhaust. I never had any problems because of noise. She was a heavy beast that would only run low 50's, so no prob with that either.

Last year I bought a Wellcraft Nova II, 26' with twin 350's. Haven't had any issues with upper-mid 50's. Thru-hub right now so no noise at all.

I ran the jet at Cherry Creek, Pueblo, and Lathrop without any problems. Several 30-36 footers with thru-hull twins at Pueblo most weekends. I've not seen any of them get hassled over noise or speed.

That would be my father...he has the Advantage again and now I have the Scarab. You should give him a call and get him down to Powell this summer. If there was any work in Page I would move down by you. That would be ideal. You get your Fountain fixed after your incident?

Rangers around colorado are pretty cool if your not being a jackass and following basic boating rules. I had a wide open exhaust on a partycat and was never given any problems for noise.I have freinds with performance boats as well that have not had any problem. I biggest problem about Colorado lakes is that most of them are very small. We make the best of what we have and still have a great time.

I grew up in Colorado and what everyone is telling you is accurate. My friends with performance boats and I would always go to Wyoming to Lake Glendo. It's absolutely massive, pretty lax rangers and a good party lake. It's not a bad drive from CO either.

I've had my tunnel at pueblo with open headers before and 70+ a bunch of times; I usually run baffels. The rangers are cool and are kept pretty busy with the jet skis. A boat like yours would be pretty happy at Mcconnaughy. I've heard good things about Glendo but have never been there.
