Default Problems with restart after 1st start

I need suggestions on why my motor starts on the first crank but when I get to my fishing spot it just turns over until it finally starts up again costing me countless minutes. Help!

You might try posting this in the jet boat section...assuming you have a jet and what engine etc.! The more info the better responses you will get!

Thanks! I have a Nissan 140 outboard on a 18.5 Skeeter bass boat. When I drop it in the water it starts right up but when I turn it off the thing turns and turns until it starts again and that takes me about 5 minutes before it finally starts again making me very frustrated.

I'm going to guess that its an oil foul. is it oil injected?

Or leaky needle and seat or somehow dripping fuel and flooding out after it has been run... if thats possible on an outboard. Can you hold the throttle 1/3 or so open and try and start it?

When you pull up to your fishing spot are you running the boat hard? If so you might try to slow it down to an idle sooner and let it level off for a few seconds before killing the motor! Thus letting the carbs level off and see if that helps!

Great! I'm heading out tomorrow and will try the slow down technique and see if that works and will post. I will also fill up with premium to see if that helps also. I do run hard to my spots as I fish tournament style. So hopefully before I dish out $$$ to a mechanic I will see if this can work. Thanks!
