    Default Shootout

What's the word on the Shootout this was suppose to be the 20th Annual Anniversary.

I was hoping to attend in '08 but it seems the event is dead in the water.

Anyone have any information from that area.

    KAP

Thumbs up Shootout's on at LOTO for 2008

Yesterday the Missouri Water Patrol announced the name of the location where the 2008 Shootout will be.

It will happen on the same dates as last year and will be moved to the 34.5 & 32.5mm and hosted by Capt. Ron's.

    Hello CP007:

Thanks for the update. I was told the Osage Fire Dept. was backing out of the event and they believed their was not enought time to put on the event in a professional manner.

I would not want to travel from San Diego to Missouri with boat in tow to find out the event was put together in haste or band-aid fashion.

Our traveling would require a huge commitment in terms of time and money to attend and participate in the 2008 Shootout. I would hate to arrive and find out the new operators of the Shootout are shooting logistical blanks and or disorganized due to lack of time.

Any additional information is welcome I hope the new licensee's will do everything to assure the boating community the event will still be top notch.

    Sincerely,

    KAP

It's all about getting together and having a little fun...until someone looses an eye.

Hope your event has a good turnout.

The Shootout is going to be held at about the 34 mile marker this year and Captain Ron's is the host. Here is a link to a course map:

Captain Ron's is in the upper left in the big cove and right near the Hurricane Deck Bridge.

Here's another map that shows the lake roads--the shootout will start near the Hurrican Deck bridge at the 34 and run to the lower mile markers--:

    Hope this info helps

    Hello Summersatthelake:

I understood the event would take almost 11 months to organize.

The commitee now has only 6 months until the event date. How will it get done properly?

We were committed to going to the LOTO this year being it was the 20th Anniversary of the event and then found out the Rescue Shootout was not longer.

The concern here as previously mentioned is for us to travel such a distance with boat in tow only to arrive and discover an event that was hastily put together does not inspire confidence. I would rather say No thanks!

I seriously doubt the public response will be the same as previous LOTO years without tremendous reassurances the event will be top notch. If anyone can shed some light on these concerns I would surely appreciate the response.

I am still hopeful but not overly optimistic.

    Respectfully,

    KAP

P.S. & FYI: The Desert Storm Poker organizer's this year are sponsoring a Shootout event. As a result of this shootout add on we decided to change plans and attend the DSP poker run.
