Default Duarte Boats San Leandro CA>

Hello all: I am new to this site and am looking for a specific boat that was built between 1960 ton 1980 by Dan Duarte of San Leandro CA. Not many of these old wood boats still around but I would be willing to rebuild one if anyone knows of anyone who knows of this boat still in existence please notify me.

    Thank You
    Bill

Last I remember of Dan Duarte, he was living on Stone Road, Bethel Island, CA.
He built his all wood boats in the bottom floor of his home on the island. His boats were a family style (Chris Craft type) run-a-bout.
I believe his boats were around 20 foot and very wide for the length.
He was a very nice guy and extremely skilled wood/boat builder, he is gone now, but some of his boats are still around.
You might contact the Bethel Island Chamber of Commerce and see if they can dig up some info.

    Default Duarte Bethel Island

Thanks for the Bethel Island info I will follow up on that. My Parents had a Duarte and I am trying to locate one of these old boats for a possible restoration.

I just talked with a friend of mine that is retired from building boats (all kinds) he says the Duartes still pop up once in a while he hasn't seen one in a while. He also said most of the peeps @ the chamber are to young to remember these boats.
I'll keep my eyes open and keep asking questions.
