I suppose it is. But there seems to be general agreement that liabilites are somewhere between 50 and 110 $trillion. More than all the $ in the world. Calls for action, no?

Do you really believe that our debt, entitlement spending, and big government growth is sustainable?

Again, my statement of the perscription drug program, which I don't support, is a small program in comparision.

What is the cost of federal government entitlement programs?

From the data that I have seen, the cost of entitlements (i.e. Social Security, Medicare, Medicade) make up about 50% of the annual budget of $3 Trillion

I guess you are unwilling or incapable of coming up with the facts, (I have my suspicions of which it is but I'll let that go.) so let me help you.

Small Program When Medicare Part D was passed it was estimated the 10 yr cost would be $400 Bln. It has since been increased to $550 Bln on the low side, to $1 Trln on the high side. Is that what you consider a "small program"? One more point: What ever the cost is, it is completely unfunded and goes straight to the deficit. No ideological opinion just facts.

Weakened Pesident Really? Don't have to go much further than the 2004 election to see how weak he was. No ideological opinion just facts. BTW I voted for him in 2004.

Placating the Left The Republicans controlled the Congress and it was a Republican sponsored bill. When the bill came up for a vote it failed. The Speaker and the Majority leader kept the vote open, after the 15 minute deadline, while they tried to convince their colleagues, who voted against the bill to change their vote. After three hours they succeeded and the bill passed. They were not trying to cross any "isle" they were plugging the holes in the boat to keep it from sinking. No ideological opinion just facts.

I posted the top three, would you care to add to the factual discussion instead of throwing out ideological opinion? Though the monry is large it is a pitance compared to the top 3 and I would say that the Drug program does not even rank in the top 25 money wise. So give it a try……oh, and enjoy the attacks when your facts, or lack of, and ideological opinion don’t hold water, typical of somone losing the debate.

This was a perceived need that the GOP had to defend against for the next election.
Bush should have not allowed it. Or made cuts in SS and Medicare spending to offset it.
