There is a common noise that usually goes away when underway (under a slight load) its likley simply some wear and combined looseness between the pump shaft male splines and drive line yoke female , this may manifest as a growning or "stacatto" knocking/clunking noise and can be heard at slow speed and its made worse by engine lope and low idle conditions These noise are also made worse with heavy impellers like bronze and stainless and solid mounts ,the fact that you say yours doesn't go away at all would be pause for concern for othe issues (brgs etc) . You sure it's not the thrust bearing? The slop in the yoke should go away under load.
