Like already said go with the short filter and most all the ones I know about came with the 460 3 point mount, My wife and kids loved the 79 tahiti boss day cruiser we had

Cas is probably right as well as Tom. I didn't have an problems with the stock front mount until I built HP. Ran it for quite a few years stock. Look like you have a 3 point mount which could make it tough to add a standard 10qt pan.
IMO, switch to a WIX filter.

Yeah Tom the shorty is a fram # ph 43 and cuts about 1 1/2 inches of the filter for ease of replacement And then there is a ph16 which is smaller diameter and even shorter with the same thread count and gasket surface area. Just do it more often, OR do the remote? M

It might be an optical illusion but it doesn't look like there would be enough clearance between a rear sump pan and the pump intake on your boat. Should you decide to change pans, you may have to raise the engine up which could possibly cause other issues with engine to pump alignment.

My old '77 Sanger Super Jet came from Sanger with a Ford 460 with a stock front sump oil pan. You will need to get a 10qt pan and run the oil pick-up to the rear.
