Now there is a need for government (taxpayer dollars) to facilitate important research in many useful areas like, medical, health, and energy conservation areas that potentially has the benefit of improving life for Americans. This research should be mainly via universities or government run projects as much as possible The government should not become a bank or a business partner taking risks for or with private or publically held companies. They can finance their own stuff....no investor fraud allowed of course and investor risk is the investors problem. Meaning no tax payer bail outs !
Mixing public money (Taxes) and risk taking for profit interests is a problem as proven time and time again! This is where the lines become blurred and greed sets in
Uncle Sam being a sugar daddy for every con artist who donated money to crooked politicians should be considered an illegal conflict of interest. New law needed: Projects affiliated with political donors get no public money! Capitalism and tax money usually means the taxpayers lose in most cases while a certain few people get very wealthy. This cycle needs to be stopped by stronger government regulations and oversight on it's tax payer supplied money....
Interesting points. I would argue however that more major developements in technology. medical and energy have come from the private sector. so the Goverment should foster a climate that allows the private sector to develope and create new advances in all of those areas and hinder them less. True things like MPG guidelinesmay have somewhat pushed auto companies to create new technologie, but I would argue that the Gov does a better job of stifling creativity.

Too bad Ron Paul and/or a good third party isn't stronger.

BTW, Beat ya! About three weeks ago my son and I went to the lake with the Eliminator Daytona 21 which I had ready end of last summer but never got it out...Started right up! Didn't have to put a wrench to it! That is some fine shade tree mechanicing right there!
Next week for a day at least I'll be out in my sail boat!
Both my jets will be running this summer . Probably the Hondo flat too if I'm not too lazy and/or wasting too much time on the PRF.

Couldn't agree more. At this point, I could deal with just about anyone over Obama. It's going to be very interesting to see how the next several months play out. I'm not in favor of a third party canidate though just because it only take away from the GOP contender.
