NO... LOL, my dad had one growing up and it was a blast... he also had a powerplay also but closed bow... best of both worlds. Unfortunately I cant have both like he did.

yes, actually I do, the boat in the video is similar to the OP's boat and for that size/type/style of boat for what he has in it is plenty and still relatively SAFE. I would be willing to put money on it that is what chrisf695 envisioned his boat doing. I think that he needs to decide what he wants the boat to do before he throws a 2-3K exhaust system at it. The first thing I would do is get that cam out of there asap and go from there.

I realize you race and own a shop and build engines, but I didn't see numbers on the side of his boat.

First, thanks for all the responses. So much wisdom on this forum!

I know this hull was not designed for high speed, its a wave breaking hull... 24 degree deadrise. I have friends with this same boat except for the fact I have the open bow and they have theirs going 67 to 89mph, given the guy that has it going 89 has a 600hp motor in it... I know the boat can take it.... AND this isnt some bayliner or searay... its a POWERPLAY. It was built like a tank, has the quality and is a head turner. I guess I do want the family boat/ speed boat combination and upgrading to another boat is out of the question... getting married in a few months . Im broke. But Im pretty upset that I trusted this guy to build this motor for me and not post on this forum what his plans were... it would have saved me headaches I'm going to have with this now and the wasted money. The boats listed above... caliber one / 21 Bahner... was that GPS speeds?

Im going to start with adding the 1 inch spacer to the carb I have now and see what happens...

I have my eye on a holley 800 on ebay that I hope to pick up for a good price and will be on the look out for some exhaust. I can always sell my eddy and GLM/risers and get something back..

Can do sh*t about the cam right now... pretty screwed with that. But I will for sure contact Chris Straub for the cam this winter.

Also, in regard to the manifolds, I am not completely sold on EMI's after seeing cutaways of them compared to the GLM hiperf manifolds (Just my opinion), not the direct Mercury replacements, those are an open chamber inside. Granted the best is long tube OT's but that would look ridiculous.

this link shows an EMI (BBC but you get the idea) next to a stock Mercury manifold, note the open chamber:

I think you are looking for performance like this Bopper 80 GPS FlyBy - YouTube

I've put quite a few victor Jr manifolds on engines with the same purpose. They always like a 4 hole spacer on them though.

Alpha drive might not like the n20 . But it would be cool with that boat.... It's just like a bay liner!
I have never seen one on silly gas! lets face it, that boat was never intended for big power or speed. Even 70 could get ya in trouble. I think that's what I'd do... headers and a DIFFERENT carb and n20. Party on!

Over the winter if you can get the heads off and at least have them flowed that would be a big plus in coming up with cam specs.
Now nobody said the heads were too big,

I agree, for that boat type, I think the Air Gap is probably the best choice. Probably never going to see the far side of 5500-6000, but some people try to build 100 MPH Bayliners so I try to make those recommendations for people anymore.

You really need to take a good look at the intended use of the boat! I don't mean to be insulting but do want a race boat or a family boat that goes fast? There is a fine line between the 2 ! If you want to go fast then I would buy a second boat and leave that one alone. Then take a good look at the weight and hull design. There is a happy medium but reality comes into play on what you can get out of that one!!! Sorry if I sound ruff but it is what it is!!! M
