I wouldn't suggest going into E. St. Louis or even certain parts of St. Louis and trying to work with kids. You'll be too busy trying to stay alive. A kid in one of my law enforcement classes did his internship with the sheriff that covers E. St. Louis. They wouldn't even let him go into E. St. Louis after dark because he was white. They said it would not only put his life in danger but also the Deputy's that was driving. That being said, the hate and bad parenting spreads from the city out. And as it grows it ruins more children. There are kids that aren't in the "hood" that can be helped. They in turn will hopefully return the favor by helping someone else, maybe someone a little closer to the "hood". But, if everyone refuses to help anyone because the extremes are too extreme, then we wind up in a world of hurt and hate.

And I know you help where and when you can. And nobody should expect a person to put their life on the line to do good works.

The real fight started escalating during the presidential election in 2008. And even though Zero has probably never spent a night sleeping in the "hood" in his life, he gets a free pass from his life of privilege because of his physical appearance. There is an agenda to all the hate mongering going on across the country. It's just hard to tell who is involved and who is just a sheeple doing the master's bidding. And that holds true on both sides of the line. It's also hard to figure out just who all benefits financially from all the hate and discontent. But you can bet, money is involved in a big way.

It may not be your faults that the kids from broken homes don't know their fathers. But, who's fault is it that nobody stepped up to be a positive role model in the absence of a father? Who's fault is it that racial tensions are being wrapped so tight that something will eventually break? Would you go watch a boxing match with only one fighter in the ring? Nobody else would either, so if one side stops "returning the hate" (because we know that nobody is really the one starting it) there won't be anyone to watch the fighting and get riled up about it. If there is no public interest then there is no political interest. Why do we have to use stereotypical hate mongering terms intended to incite people when describing events? Is a murder caused by love really any less tragic than a murder caused by hate?

That old adage about if you aren't part of the solution really applies here. Are you saying the only solution is to be armed and attack first? I know your religious views don't say or teach that. I'm saying we stop the hate where we can and when we can and if we all try, then maybe we won't have to be ready for the attack or be the ones that have to attack.

First, let me remind you that I live in Iowa, probably a vastly different environment than where you are. That being said, we have a very diverse population in the area I live in so most of the issues that affect the country can be seen to some degree right here at home.

I don't demand evidence beyond reasonable, but I would like to see the answers to the questions I post. Dismissing them because they disagree with what you want to believe is not reasonable either.

If I see a nickle, I know it's a nickle. I won't tell you it's a dime. However, if you give me something and tell me it's worth a nickle, then yes I will analyze it until I know it truly is worth a nickle before telling someone else it is as good as a nickle.

I read the stories, scan for confirmation and try to see past the spin and the smoke. I want to know what the underlying facts are, not the spin put on the situation. Remember way back when the news reported just the facts instead of telling us how to think? The incidents haven't changed; same crimes, same greed, same hate. But, now we have the news putting their spin on it and telling us how it is supposed to make us think and feel. That is what the majority see, someone's doctored view of what they want you to see. They omit facts that don't agree with their version, they use terms designed to incite people, they embellish the facts, and even more importantly just flat out lie if they need to. All that, just to make the story read the way they want it to read.


I know I over think things. But that doesn't mean I get them wrong. I just want to see the answer from every possible angle before I pick the one that best fits the situation. And if I think some are being hasty and not seeing past the spin and the smoke, I will point it out. The fact that in the same thread some can accuse me of being a pro black libby and then someone else call me a racist is kind of funny really.

I agree and while I teach my kids to respect others and do the right thing, I am not going to stand by and let them be victmized either. They will learn to avoid problems and walk away from conflict if possible but if those options become not available then they will also learn to defend themselves in a variety of ways. There is no doubt that the persons you referenced have done an outstanding job at increasng the racial divide and polarizing the nation at much higher levels then some of the recent past administrations.
