Yes, it's a Charles 803 reflux still. There's a thumper/doubler in the bottom, column packed with marbles in the middle, a condenser on top and another in the middle section.
    The plans are here,
The Charles 803 model alcohol still plans by Robert Warren | Permaculture & Alcohol Can Be A Gas

It's a stand alone unit so the only thing attaching it to the boiler is a steam line.

I am looking into a molecular sieve to run the 90% - 95% ethanol through to remove the remaining water to make 100% pure ethanol.

Once I get a better handle on the fermenting part I will step up to a 150 gallon batch and turn out some product.
Do you use a thumper or doubler ? I know a guy that makes the beverage and it boosts it from about 100 proof to 170ish.

May not be the best tasting as what I made last week was 90 % on one pass through the still.
It would clean out a paint brush real good though.

I have an Ethanol producers permit.
There's quite a learning curve on this, especially the fermenting part.

As has been pointed out before, this could never make sense money wise at this small volume.
I want to make enough 95% Ethanol to run the boat on for a day just to say I did it.
Its a great challenge and its real fun running and fabricating on the still.
It's like the science fair project I never did as a kid.
"Still" crazy after all these years ........

That is really cool.... making your own fuel, figured somebody would be doing it one day. I made one of those 'hydrogen generators' from some plans I bought online and it worked! It was not one of those coke bottle and plastic tubing gigs, it was all top notch materials. I never applied it to make a car function but the general idea and theory of it worked and produced enough 'fuel' I think that could make a light little car go down the road. I sold it to somebody that wanted to take it to the next level.

You really do have a permit?

    I'm still jealous.
I think its cool what you've done.

I followed the write-up on putting that thing together and realized there is more to it than I thought.
It also required larger amounts of raw ingredients than I thought it would take also.

    It's still cool though.

It looks like I will continue using e85 from the local grocery store.

Is that just for fuel or does it get used to make custom brews?

Perhaps its better not to answer that on an open site. You never know who is monitoring.

For those who think this site sucks, are there any suggestions on how to improve it?
It would appear to me that if it really does suck, it's largely due to what WE do or say.

There are other sites too, are they better or are they just different?
For those who are really, really unhappy with this site, do you want your money back, or what?

Unlike some, I don't claim to be a good writer or good speller.
Continue throwing stones when you are perfect, if you wish.

Well not to innundate you with TOO much information, but I can SPELL and use GRAMMAR correctly for starters!!!!!!!!

The first word of your reply should be INSIGHT. Poor spelling, AND poor use of grammar(tense). Back to 2nd grade for you, Jimbo.
