Seems like everything I buy is 500 bucks. From Oil pans to spark arrestors and everything in between.
And yes we do use cork and thermometers here. Most choose to use rectal thermometers as they are more accurate than your garden variety uptown oral type (and always AFTER we're done using them for personal use!--We're Fresnecks but not heathens). FYI
Thanks and that's sooo un Fresneck it ain't even funny. Don't they just use a cork and an old exam thermometer down there?
Went to look at the Hardin site. $500.00! ouch...but by the time I get a cooler, a seperate thermostat and plumb it, I guess it's about right.
Hardin marine has an oil cooler w/ the thermostat built in. Pretty slick. How's that for Fresneck!?
Well... there I go. Thanks!

I know oil temp is important in terms of optimizing it's performance but a thought occurs to me regarding the plumbing of my oil cooler. Following other examples of plumbing this boat, I'm coming off the cav plates with -12s, one to the water pump, the other to the coolers- oil and trans in that order, and overboard.
In order to get the oil to proper temp and seeing as the cooling supply is for all intents full flow, is it necessary to neck down the -12 after the cooler to slow the flow and let the oil reach a desirable temp?
Thanks in advance.
