i put a hold on this project till winter. i did collect a complete 406sbc(30 over 400) to do it with, looking for a cheap flatty , maybe a hondo or sanger. i've got an eye on a hondo that's been around there parts for awhile, but i just can't talk the guy into selling it. it used to be my uncles, its actually the 1st vdrive i ever drove, would like to have it.

Buddy of mine recently built a twin turbo efi sbc for a Bonneville deal. 368ish ci, all aluminum, raised port heads, made over 1300 hp as I recall. That would "saw off" some big blocks as you say!

    run mesh intake gaskets

i've got a nice 406sbc now and i'm gonna get 1 of these kits over the summer. sure its not the shiat as far as turbo's but its a start. run the kit for a season with low boost on nitrous, then upgrade the turbo's over the winter, sell off the shiat 1's, and go bigger boost with nitrous. i'm in parts collecting mode for this project, gonna run my new bbc for a couple summers while i come with everything to do the turbo/nitrous 434.regardless if the turbo's are worth a damn, the rest of the kit would make up alot of the 800 price tag.

Damn, both of the kiits seem inexpensive. I've been thinking of doing a turbo set up on a Shortstar motor in my off road car. Wonder if something like those could be adapted?

do you think it'd work as a blow thru kit? someone is askin me to sell my tx to em, so i've been thinking what'd i'd like to build next. the way gas prices are goin, i thought why not build something cheap and effective got a line on a 16ft earl smith local that'd work great as a turbo'd sbc project

Thats a lot of stuff for the money.
The manifolds and piping are where lots of time would be spent.
Even if you got all the misc pieces and bought the turbos elsewhere it seems like it would be a lot for the money.

With any off brand wastegates you would certainly want to be sure you could get replacement diaphragms as they get brittle and need to be replaced eventually.

here's a kit that'd be easier to adapt to a boat, the headers would even work

keep stumbling across this and i've been wanting to build a turbo sbc powered lite tunnel like a earl or texas tunnel just to play in and spray some nitrous to it to race in the coves some.
i know these aren't the best turbo's by a long shot, but could they make 20-25lbs of boost on a 383 or 433 sbc? could it be adapted to blow thru a carb setting on a nitrous plate? i could make a water to intercooler chiller box to put that intercooler in, bet that'd drop the shiat outta boost temps

so would this set-up, blowing thru the intercooler, into a carb bonnett , ontop of a bhlow thru carb work well?
think it'd be awesome to have a 16ft tunnel with a 800hp sbc out there sawing off heavier, bbc powered tunnels of equal hp been wanting to do it for awhile, sell off my tx-19, buy a pontoon to drag the little tunnel around the lake with go out and run 85-90mph all day for 30-40bucks in race fuel or methanol
