On the throttle shaft, on the choke linkage side, there is another screw, and a notched plate that rotates into place when the choke is opperated, making a high idle "stop" (often 2 places notched for a very high idle and a lower "mid-point" idle).

On my 4150, the choke would be opperated by moving the actuator lever foreward, toward the clamp where the cable is supposed to mount.

I'm not positive I know what that means(idle stops), I assume like on a q-jet when the choke is on it idles faster? I was just throwin it out there because I did pull the butterfly a couple years ago, and can't remember which friggin wat it went ,I was thinkin having it (linkage) pulled up/fwd was off, and back and down was on. Last night I put my starter and went to fire my boat up for the 1st time and long story I couldn't keep it lit long enougph to throw a light on it,(ya gotta love doin shit all by yourself)

It will function the high-idle stops on the outside.

Thanks again Smokin. I was curious if having the choke lever/linkage "on" did anything internally? sounds like it doesn't.

Piece of wire about 4" long. Mine's been blocked open since the factory delivered her 30 years ago.

The mounting clamp is fwd, push the operating lever aft to it's stop, and leave it there.

Never took the plate off mine since any possible airflow dif is so minor that, unless you are trying to find a couple 1/10ths of a HP, you'll NEVER find any diference, not worth the bother.
