Sounds like the scarcity of future good jobs has elevated the importance of entry level jobs....if you have nothing to move up to or aspire to McDonalds takes the hit as irresponsible. Whats messed up is that 18 years ago I could make 16-18 an hour working on the local farms during harvest as a kid... I don't know if the legacy of the Bracero Program makes that a possibility today, and amnesty in the era of government employees over Bond investment will surely equal an ever decreased economic potential of all Americans.

I was out with a coworker that was trying to tell me that these people are just looking for a hand up (some are). I explained that if they're out of school, there's a reason that they're working for a fast food restaurant. She disagreed. So I did just what I explained above. Since it was an old school register, the girl had to write it out on paper and eventually get a calculator. In the mean time I told my coworker what the change should have been. She finally somewhat agreed with me.

Some of them are wising up to the problem. I had a 7-11 cashier that rang me up, I gave him a 20.00 on a charge of something like 9.03, and I gave him a dime after he had already punched in the 20.00. He proceeds to give me back the change and all he did was give me the 10.97 plus my own dime back, and never missed a beat, or hesitated. Like he does it all day long.
