A 100 MPH is not how to see Powell

We were just out this past weekend so we won't be out again for a couple of weeks.

One thing to take into consideration is the fact the water is coming up over a foot a day and the National Park Service seems to be having troubles keeping up with the underwater obstruction markers. A prime example of this is what is called Anchovy Point. Thats the point where you turn uplake about a mile up from the damn when exiting Wahweap. In antcipation of the water coming up, they have pulled the main channel marker on the East side of the channel, but there are still some rock markers there as well as some rocks that aren't marked.

Best bet is to stay to left of the greens and stay slow until you head up the main channel there. Sticking to the middle is a pretty safe bet all the way uplake. At Marker bouy 37, on the South side of the channel, there is a gravel mound that might still be out of the water, depending on the levels. Thats right at Rock Creek canyon.

Other than that,, have a great time and enjoy (gas at Dangling Rope was $5.19 over the weekend and all they have is 87. Bring Octane Boost)

    Default We appreciate ...

the heads up on the markers and fuel situation. We will be cautious in the unknown zones. Fortunately we have a decent grasp of the place to begin with. I hope your trip was a good one, we are looking forward to many runs at Powell this summer ! We have rented a hangar for the Daytona so we can just fly in and be ready to go. Maybe next time we can hook up at the greatest place to boat !!

Sounds good,, We always have a great time out on the lake. When you fly in, ask for Dan Piper at Classic. Tell him you are a friend and ask him about the "locals" rate for 100LL.

Our house is just west of the Runway 15 threshold, and we keep the Fountain right there.... We are out pretty much every other weekend. Titties and Beer lives in Plyg Water but he seems to have an issue as of late finding the launch ramp....

Let us know,, I'm sure we will be more than happy to go out and play. Fathers Day weekend will probably be the next weekend out for us. It'll be interesting to see if CRC makes it out again this year.

GW,,, Lake Powell is on the Utah/ AZ line about 135 miles north of Flagstaff.
