This time of year, Folsom is full of people that have no business being on the water. Be safe and keep an eye on everybody around you. Be aware Folsom has a zero alcohol on or near the water policy. Rangers do try to enforce it as much as they can, so keep any alcohol on the low. Probably best to launch at Folsom Point (old Dyke 8), as Granite Bay is usually a madhouse from early to late. IF you want to sit and float, go up south fork to New York cove, it's a couple miles up on right hand side, past Browns Ravine. Nice big cove (5 mile/hr), usually lots of nice boats floating & hanging out. IF you want to go for a cruise, go across main body of lake, past Granite Bay, up north fork, towards Rattle Snake Bar. You have a big enough boat, you'll be able to handle the rough water. Have fun & be safe.

We may be out there on Sat, maybe Sun.

There are a few other lake options, but ind of depends where you're heading or staying. Not too much east of there (except Tahoe) But south is a lot of beautiful lakes. (& some reservoir's i wouldn't bother in a 26')

South of Sac - Lake Don Pedro, Lake McClure, New Hogan, Camanche
North of Sac - Camp Far West, Rollins
    West of Sac - Berryessa

There are others, but they start getting more than an hour or so away.

S&S, the rule/law of alcohol at Folsom is only if you or your boat is NOT touching the shore, so you can drink if you're floating, which is why the cove is more popular than the beach.

Yeah right on. Just hate when I see the rangers blindside somebody from out of town with this. Seen too many people hassled by them that had no idea. Maybe see you out there, if we don't go to CFW.

    Default Flosom Lake

    Hi Cokeman,

Sorry but I can't make it on Saturday due to a party, will be there on Sunday so hope you can make it both day's. It would be great to see you again. To correct S&S, actually you can have alcohol on your Boat, not the shore or your boat can not touch the shore, go figure? Just watch it when you pull out, buckle your seat belt when you pull your boat out and are driving to the dry off area. They Rangers use that to check you out if you are not wearing it and they are watching. Bill is right, Folsom side is best to launch from where you will be staying, and Granite Bay is not all that bad , I live 5 minutes from the ramp and it is WIDE now and you can get in and out pretty quickly. The North Fork past Rattlesnake bar in the 5mph is usually where we hang, it is also known as "pastie cove" due to the fun entertainment that is usually there at some point.
Have fun and hope to see you Sunday.
