Smile Sacramento River Racing Water Festival by Chris Ayres / Poker Runs West

Please be advised that the name SACRAMENTO RIVER RACING WATER FESTIVAL is not to be used to describe the party that will take place at the Virgin Sturgeon on June 28 or any other boating activities. I alone have rights to that name and am legally responsible for activities that take place under that name, so I am told.

It is my understanding Buzz, Bobby, maybe Margaritaville and some others suggested having the party. I have told many people about it and hope to attend myself.

Those that post statements here concerning lack of sponsors, never having any sponsors, and other statments concerning the event I was forced to cancel after 9 months work should refrain from making statements they know nothing about. It is not fair to the people and companies who did stand behind the event like, Rex Hutchison, Tognottis, Tony Adams, Paradise Bar & Grill, John Ambrose & Greg Lennon, Buzz, Curt Crandall and others.

The bottom line was that the fees imposed by the city and insurance fees along with many other challanges simply could not be overcome. When you couple these facts with the lack of response and registration from participants the decison to cancel it was easy to see but difficult to make. I find it easy to fight one battle at a time, such as costs with the city, but fighting a second battle worrying about participant involvement at the same time significantly contributed to the decision to cancel.

Everybody likes a good time and party, especially if it is free, but few are willing to contribute to see that it happens. I find it rather humerous that people in the other thread talk about how many pages it is, how it will be the biggest event ever on the river in Sacramento and there will be awards and just how wonderful it will all be. I hope that it is and that everyone has a great time, I know I intend to if I make it there. One can only wonder if the level of anxious participation in the party had been directed to the real Sacramento River Racing Water Festival if the city and sponsors would have been more pro-active. I know I would have written more checks.

But enough dealing with disappointments, it is time to move on.

SHASTA WAS OVER THE TOP--ENJOYED BY ALL--SOON YOU WILL HEAR ABOUT THE VERY VERY DIFFERENT PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR AND THEY ARE SO COOOOOOL.

TAHOE JULY 5 HAS COME TOGETHER WITH A GREAT PLAN FOR THE HELI RUN.

RADAR RUN SHOOTOUT AUG. 8 IS STILL ON IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE BIG CAT.

SAN DIEGO BAYFAIR RACING SEPT. 19-21 IN PLANING STAGES NOW. BETTER THAN SACRAMENTO RACING AND I DON'T HAVE TO DO ALL THE WORK.

POSSIBLE NEW EVENT LATE SEPT. OR EARLY OCT. THIS WILL REPLACE THE COMPETITION WE ARE MISSING FROM THE SACRAMENTO EVENT. LOCATION IS SECRET FOR NOW BUT IT IS WITHIN 2 HOURS OF SAC.
    Chris

Chris, I think we are all aware of the time and effort you put into the sac event only to be thrawted by the City as you say. The whole idea just kinda took life and happened to be in the thread that stated your event wasn't going to take place.
I agree about the person who made the smart remark(greg) about how many pages it was and my response was only directed at his continual disrespect of rules... I purpossily stated a different name then your event so there would never be any connection to your non event, also I only stated I heard a rumor about awards. PLease don't appear to quote me unless it is correct.
Maybe you should think about your statement regarding:
"One can only wonder if the level of anxious participation in the party had been directed to the real Sacramento River Racing Water Festival "
It may give you some insight on how to approach future events that have been cancelled.
Many as I am are sad that the sac event, as well as others on the Delta seem to have met there demise recently.
At least we can look forward to a fun time on the river and I look forward to seeing you there with all the other riff raff

Nice sidestep Chris, wait, did Buzz, Jimmy and I just get thrown under the bus? uhhhh, whatever. Sorry the B2B deal didn't work out.

Well the email announcing the function had been canceled was sent out with the title of "CANCELED - SACRAMENTO RIVER RACING WATER FESTIVAL" came directly from the USCG AUX district Past Flotilla Commander. Since I am a member of the AUX I thought I would pass the word along, since it seems no one involved was talking about it or informing anyone. That was the thread I started as a public service announcement, where the thread went from there never mentioned the function title again, that I am aware of.

Smile Let the good times begin

Not side stepping anything, just covering my ass so I have no legal responsibility and protecting the name I have registered with the city. Never said anyone stole anything just said it can not be used. Most definately no one was thrown under any bus, boat, plane or glowing and hovering object in the making of any statment on my part, if fact I give kudos to Buzz, Bobbie, Curt, yourself and others who are putting this deal together and most definately let the party begin. I am looking forward to having no responsibility.

Care and caution must be taken on every level as the moon will be in its waning phase, brain cells will be disappearing under pressure from hydration operations and the visual and olfactory impact upon the male species from cleverly presented examples of the opposite sex which have been rumored will be in close proximity that day. Be safe on every level.

    LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED............................

    Default Saturday June 28th

This is what I know regarding the river this Saturday...Tying up on the American by 12:45 - 1:00pm. Look for Bobby and Buzz and many other boats. Suppose to be large turnout which is not part of SACRAMENTO RIVER RACING WATER FESTIVAL. Celebrating a surprise B-day for Phil. He should be showing up around 1:30pm so your presence is appreciated! Many are spending the night on the river.
