    Default The Delta Area

Any comments for me about the Delta Area. I was up there for the first time yesterday and met with a realtor. looked at a few houses in Discovery bay and a few houses on Bethel Island. I have a 36 Skater and a Malibu Ski boat. We like to ski and of course run around in the Skater. Is a 36' Skater to big for these areas? Is the water safe to Water Ski on? How does a rookie to the area learn where underwater obstruction are? Are there many? Will be coming up there with one of the boats to run around the area any suggestions. I like the Discovery Bay area except that there isn't much extra area on the street side for parking extra Boats and Trailers (firends that visit). Bethel Island has more room but looks a little sketchy as for as investment goes. It was not windy at all the days I was up there, does the wind blow often and how hard?

    Default Disco Bay

My folks have lived there for the last ten years. It is great. Takes a little while to get to the "Fast" water. However, year round good weather, easy to get in and out of, good fishing and good neighborhood. I would focus on the area.

I know the place well...Nice Pair lives there...No matter how windy it gets, there is water that is nice. We run 150-200 miles pretty much every weekend...I'd be glad to show you the ropes out there...Buy a Frankos map of the Delta...It is a great way to begin your Delta studies....The Delta is something you master over your lifetime...but you need to know the names of MANY sloughs and canals. I have boated everywhere...this is truly paradise if you like to run your boat. It is a drivers course to say the least... PM me if you want to roll.

I hate to say it but I agree with Ken, great area, check out the DLB section, and get a good map. Lots of water to play on, good times for sure.

You really dont want to live out here. there is only about 1000 miles of water ways and real good skiing, many places to eat and drink, tons of great DLB'ers. This is truely a horible place to live and boat. LOL..

I couldnt agree more, people are rude, weather always sucks, water is always flat around every coner and the beverages are way to cold

I am kind of partial to Discovery Bay

It all sounds good. I am going to try and get up there with one of our boats in the next 3 weeks or so. I will look you all up. How long (without wetsuits) do you Water Ski or Board into the Fall and when do you start in the Spring? How are water temps in May and October?

Our motto is any weather is boating weather, rain, shine, etc.

We've had runs that were like snowboarding in a washing machine, and there wasn't a complaint in the bunch, I believe there was alcohol involved, but I can't remember.

Franko's map is a really good idea, everything starts to look the same, just remember to follow the levee islands not the tule's.

Pack for a full day, clothing, water, food, adult beverages, etc.

Have fun, see you on the water!

Going in...and we're going in deep.

Is a 36' Skater to big for these areas? Nope, would fit right in. Did you look at the dock sides of the homes. Quite a few over 40'

Is the water safe to Water Ski on? Yes

How does a rookie to the area learn where underwater obstruction are? Go out with people that have been around forever. Most say Franks Tract should be avoided, but the natives cruise through it like it's nothing. Keep in mind, it's a river, so things change. There may be a tree in the water today where there wasn't yesterday.

Are there many?. I wouldn't say many, but I have replaced a couple props over the last 15-20 years

Click HERE to go directly to the dlb area of performanceboats.com and post up. Say hi 'n shit. I'm sure you'll fit right in.

BTW, how about some pics of the Skater?
