Default where to jet boat on the delta?

I live in walnut creek and work in alameda, I went to lake berryessa yesterday and between the launch fee, gas to get there and 20 DOLLAR toll I would really like to find somewhere on the delta to go next time. also im spoiled by the Colorado rivers abundance of sandy beaches to hang out on for the day, wasn't digging the constant muddy rocky shores on Berryessa. I have two months left before im gone for a loooong time then hopefully transferring back to so cal, so im trying to get all the boating I can in. Any advise would be great. thanks a lot - SCOTT

I have a sport jet boat ( Yamaha AR 210) and I boat all over the delta. I launch out of Orwood in Brentwood. . I always have a great time.

IT kind of depends......I like my peace & quiet, so I get up early and launch at Tracy Oasis and go 2 miles west on Grant Line and there are a couple of beaches.....depends on the tide as to how much beach. I pull out by approx' 11:00.

Most of the Delta shore lines are basically levees, so to protect them they are covered in "Rip-Rap"- broken rock and cement. Luckily, Grant Line Canal is parelleled by Fabian & Bell, so the berm down the middle doesn't have(Nor need) rip-rap. There are other places that have beaches- a freind of mine goes to Ski beach, but I actually have no idea where it is. Also there is Tower park, but that is definitely for people who like crowds.

jet boating on the delta? hmmmm well i never really thought there were special places for 'jet-boats' (or v-drives, or outboards and inboards....) unless youre a jetboater with an attitude then theres no place on the delta for you.

But as long as it floats and you got a motor in it I think the whole delta is wide open to you to do whatever you want. I dont know exactly but I think there are over 500 miles (or more) of riverways, sloughs and back channels that beckons boaters from all around the delta. People hang out at different places all around the clock because of the tides. High tides in some places and beaches disappear. Then you can find the many bars and restaurants that rely on our patronage to make a good business and welcome us boaters to their establishments. Those are good places to meet up with many people too.

    enjoy!

Actually, I think there is more like 1000 miles of water ways in the Delta....And I was just talking about were I go....I didn't really pay attention to the jet boat part of it.......Anyplace where there aren't any roll-bar boats or giant yachts is good for me.

The forward hoop is mounted ridged while the back hoop is held down by bungee cords....It's just high enough for head clearance.....When you want to get out or stand up, you flip the back hoop forward and it over-centers and rests against the forward hoop, opening up the top...It ain't particularly pretty, but when I'm up at Trinity in 95* heat, it's nice to have some shade, and this top, and the removable center windshield piece, keep the rain out when it rains up there.....The last two trips on the first tuesday.....If it happens again, I'll know someone is out to get me!

how is lauritzen to launch at? might try to launch there and head up the san joaquin river, better late than never! and by jet boats i just meant louder boats in general, ive heard that many california waterways frown upon loud exhaust. I love anything with an engine!

After you have seen/heard 35 flat bottoms with open exhaust run thru the south delta area you wont believe that myth anymore....

The big boys with their off shores have loud exhaust too, so there are all types of boats out there making 'beautiful noise'....

There are a lot more loud offshore style boat running the delta than v-drives, and I have yet to see one get pulled over for loud exhaust. I run Bassett slip in mufflers and have water injected headers, I also have USCG. approved flame arrestors on top of my velocity stacks, so they can check me out with a fine tooth comb, may cost me a few minutes of time, but no $$$.
