    Default SACRAMENTO River North

We do a couple of runs from Orwood up to Old Town Sac and stay over night. One of my running buddies ask about going beyond the Sac area up river. I have been as far as where I-80 goes over the river. So the question is how far can one go up river safely from the Sac area and is there anything worth seeing or doing up that way? Gas, food, accommodations, etc.? Thanks for the advice.

At the I-80 bridge there used to be a restaurant there called "Bridges" or something like that was a nice place too. If you go about 2-3 miles further up to the I-5 bridge, there is SWABBIES... which I have heard has been sold, but theres a marina there and you can walk up to the bar/restaurant, outside area has live music on weekends and their tacos are the best ANYPLACE!!!!

Further up from there is mostly residential homes along the river, (very nice ones) and lots of space to open it up. Thats where I took my flat for the first test runs and lots of decent water with no other boats around. You can go all the way up to where I think its the Feather river junctions with the SAC and then you start getting into alot of shallows. Or cut across and go to Knights Landing. Theres a group of flatty guys out of modesto that does a run or two up that way each year.... will do that one for sure next year.

I have spent hundreds of hours boating the upper Sac River it can be done.
But you must know the river and its hazards

First off going past I-80 is dangerous, The Sac River has Wing Dams,
rock walls jetty that extends into the river from both sides.
From I-80 to where the SAC and Feather river come [email protected] Verona,Ca

Above there lots of submerged trees and shallow spots

Yes its a great run ! Very beautiful I have gone all the way to Colusa Ca
couldn't go any farther to shallow.

Pm me if you guys want to do it. Be glad to take you as far as you want to go

Will do, and thanks to all for the tips, doesn't sound like much to do above Sac. We usually try to do a late spring run, depending on the snow melt and amount of debris floating down stream, then again late summer, park at the public docks, and stay at the Embassy Suites, ramp leads from the dock to the front door.

I live about 5 minutes from discovery park, i always head north its my fav part of the river. I do full balls out runs in the scarab from sac all the way up past knights landing into a small town called grimes. 5-6 awesome beaches to stop at an bullshit with the many fast jets youll find roming the area in that section of river. A few good races are always found up that way, im never disappointed. Its a really great extremely twisty run an the best part is NO COPS!

Have fun if you want to run it im always game for it. Have the scarab out today actually

You can get a v-drive from Sac to Colusa, even now with the river as low as it is.

No fuel up north. Only fuel stop is Alamar under I-5 or Miller Park I think. I would launch in Sac and go up river, you could float down stream!

I think you must mean the I-5 bridges and beyond ??? because the I-80 bridge in West Sac is barely into the good stuff! and boats are up that way all the time, all the way to the Elkhorn Launch area under the I-5 bridge. And that is where Swabbies is too! probably the best riverside dive north of Stockton!!! Live music, and great tacos!
