I just recently moved from camanche lake. We used to boat every weekend their my normal boat is a 26 Daytona with a large blown setup 4 exhaust no mufflers. I also have ran a jet around for a few years dry headers no mufflers and have ran my drag boat their as well custom stainless headers no water or mufflers.. I honestly think if your smart about it i.e. Not going wide open throttle leaving the marina you would be fine. I never got hassled and even had the sheriffs watch me and another jet boat coming in to the 5 at a hi rate of speed . He stopped turned to watch and I went into the 5 and on the trailer with nothing being said to me. They do check for mussels in the bilge. For a time they were not letting out of state boats or from Santa Clara county and south on the lake. I think the county restrictions are gone but out of state is in place . Best to call and speak to a ebmud ranger to get the specifics before planning a trip..

If your going to camp stay on the peninsula the regular camp sites are on top of each other and there is a lot of Bay Area people that head their. It's one of the first lakes you come to from that way. The waters clean and the lake is nice...

I've been to Camanche a couple of times without incident. I recently hired on with EBMUD and was in a training class last week where one of the guys that works the gate at the lake was there too. I asked him about the headers and mufflers. He said they really don't trip on them. The big deal right now is the mussels. He says that every boat is thoroughly inspected at the gate. I also asked if they hassle people for not having the state issued mussel sticker on their boats(I refuse to stick that ugly POS on my boat). He said they don't care, as long as the boat has no sign of mussels, you're GTG. He did mention that Amador County almost always has a Sheriff's deputy or two on the water. Calaveras County rarely sends one.

We're heading up for a weekend in August.

Screw those muscle inspectors. My boat has never been south and they always hassle me or don’t let me on the water.
Anywhere there are inspections I do not go and waste my time or money.

It’s a shame because I was thinking about going here
